We were lucky to catch up with Tymarri Holmes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tymarri , appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I wish I would have started modeling sooner, I honestly wish I would have took a leap of faith and started back in high school. Modeling has really helped me come out of my shell and be more confident. I wish I could have had the confidence back then I have now. I think the biggest difference would be my experience level and the different photographers I could have worked with. I’ve worked with some amazing photographers in the Charleston area, but I’m sure there are so many more I could have worked with from my hometown. When I started modeling back in 2019 and I was honestly just looking for a hobby to help me grow as a person. I used to always watch America’s Next Model and dream about being able to get in front of the camera. I finally got tired of wishing and I decided to go for it!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I am a 26 year model from Anderson, SC with locs. I graduated from Charleston Southern University with a bachelors of science. I enjoy traveling, scary movies, spending time with family and of course modeling. I specialize in creative shoots which include but are not limited to: boudoir, body paint, couple and styled wedding shoots. I got into the industry by first doing my research and then creating my portfolio. I had to decide what kind of model I wanted to be and how to execute that exact genre. I finally decided on wanting to focus on creative modeling and practicing in runway as well. I am beyond proud of how far I have come with my craft. I have been able to stay consistent since I started and that has been my biggest challenge thus far. I have been featured in multiple articles and I have had a magazine spread. I can’t wait to see where modeling will take me in the future.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by being authentic and consistent. I honestly didn’t expect to grow my social media as fast as I did, but I’m glad to get to share my work. The advice I would give someone is don’t worry about the number of likes. Post your content no matter how many likes or shares you get. My second piece of advice is no matter what continue to be authentic. There may be a lot of creatives doing the same thing as you, but they aren’t you! They will never be you and they will never have your gift.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me the most rewarding aspect of being a model is making my grandmother and mother proud! I love seeing their faces when I get to show them my new work! Their reactions are always priceless! They are my biggest supporters and being able to put a smile on their faces makes everything worth it!
