We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tylia Flores a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tylia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I first started to write as a teenager after needing something to help me cope with the world, and how old is to live with it when you have a disability, such as Cerebral Palsy, which is a condition that not many people understand Writing was an escape for me, and I found solace in putting my thoughts and feelings into words. I soon realized the power of writing and how it could help others who were struggling with similar issues. Through my writing, I have been able to share my story and experiences with others and help bring awareness to the struggles of those with disabilities.
Later on, I began advocating for individuals with Cerebral Palsy by writing various sites and discussing topics that people don’t like to discuss. I continue to write and give talks to raise awareness and support for people with disabilities. I strive to be a voice for those with disabilities, representing them in the best way possible. I hope that my work will help to end the stigma around disability and inspire others to live their best life.
I also started my own advocacy group called Stomping on CP where I document my journey in hopes that it may inspire others to live their lives despite the obstacles in front of them, as well as other projects, such as my radio show called The Stomping on CP Radio show with DJ Ty. I use the show to bring awareness to Cerebral Palsy and to also bring together a community of people who share similar experiences. My advocacy group and radio show are dedicated to encouraging people to live their best lives, no matter what challenges they may face.

Tylia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
With my writing in literature, I hope to convey the idea that you can tell your story however you want, regardless of obstacles and challenges along the way, and that you are the one in control. No matter what path you take, there is always a way to reach your goals. My writing is meant to be a source of inspiration and empowerment to anyone, regardless of age, gender, race, or background. I want to show that everyone has the potential to create a story of their own.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
In my career choice, I find the most rewarding part to be hearing from readers how I speak the words they’ve wanted to speak for years. I am passionate about writing stories that touch people’s hearts and make them feel seen and heard. Writing has become more than a career to me; it’s a way to connect with people across the world and to share my stories with them. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my words with others.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Managing a team in my creative world, I would recommend allowing others to share their creative side and creating a fun working environment for anyone considering entering the writing and storytelling industry. When I get together with all four of my illustrators, it’s always a good time and we always come up with new ideas together.
And we’ve all known each other for a long period of time, so it’s always a good time when we’re all in the office together We have a good dynamic and we always come up with creative solutions to any problem. It’s amazing how we can brainstorm together and come up with great ideas. We always learn something new from each other.
