We recently connected with Tyler Pennington and have shared our conversation below.
Tyler, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I believe that risks are necessary in anything that we do in this life. Risk taking has played a major role in my business. The biggest risk to date I have taken in my career is making the decision to become a full-time entrepreneur. The risk was very calculated and planned and has made me confident that not all risks are bad. Entrepreneurship is the career path of risks.
Without taking risks I believe that means one is operating from a place of fear. As long as the risk is calculated I believe it is worth taking. In Entrepreneurship there is no space for fear.

Tyler, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Lash Tech located in Arlington, Texas specializing in Volume and Mega Volume Lashes. I also sell products such as lash bath kits, T-shirts, and strip lashes.
I graduated from the University of North Texas in 2019 and began working for an investment bank a week after graduation. While being grateful for the blessing I knew immediately that I didn’t plan to stay long. The longer I stayed the more I knew I needed to work for MYSELF. I finally realized how much my job was affecting my mental health and overall happiness. I decided to make a change and choose a new path that would align more with my purpose and overall goals. Having faith and knowing that my plans were led by God, allowed me to walk by faith and not by sight.
What I am most proud of is staying true to myself and doing all things in love. I live by knowing that as long as everything I do is done with love and good intentions any outcome produced is the one that serves me best. This is important to me because of the condition of the world we live in today. A lot of times you never know who you’re speaking to or interacting with and sometimes kindness can go a long way!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for building my clientele has been social media marketing and Word of mouth marketing. Social media has played a major part in growing my clientele and served as my initial and only source of marketing for a long time. However, as powerful as social media is as business owners we can’t rely on social media solely. Social media is a huge tool for businesses but things happen, and sometimes your content isn’t pushed out the way it should be which is why as effective social media is it can’t be your only form of marketing. Word of mouth marketing is the most important strategy for my business right now wether it’s passing out business cards, placing flyers in local salons/stores and most importantly my clients referring their family and friends. Word of mouth marketing has brought me some of my most loyal clients.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe being a business owner who actually cares about my clients helped me build a strong and secure reputation within the lash world. The lash industry is a large market and clients come and go, However a client never forgets how they are treated regardless of the service rendered. Being kind and considerate of your clients feelings, lives and overall situations will help you build not only a strong reputation in this market but also a strong consistent clientele. Most clients are looking for a service provider who makes them feel comfortable and at home but still a professional encounter every time.
