We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tyler Nykole. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tyler below.
Tyler, appreciate you joining us today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
I love to travel, so any chance I can get to go somewhere I will go. While I am on vacation as a business owner I try to keep my social media up to date. That means I am still staying active. I am liking peoples post, commenting on post that I see, as well as posting things on my stories to stay active. If I am not posting content of other people I try to post myself as much as I can so, that people can at least see who is behind the camera. I will post a “10 facts about me” or “what are some things you would like to know about me”. My advice for entrepreneurs is to take a break when you can. I think taking vacations can get your creativity flow going on a whole other level. Being in a different city, state, or country can bring you ideas you never thought of. Plus as creatives we work around the clock so a nice vacation is always needed.
Tyler, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Being a photographer has taught me so much and I don’t mean about how to take pictures. It has taught me about the type of person I am. I am an extrovert first then an introvert. Which means I am very outgoing, talkative, friendly, etc but I can be very quiet and timid at times. Being a photographer has also allowed me to learn different types of people and their comfortability in front of the camera and around their family and friends. Being able to really connect with people sets me apart from others. When I communicate and photograph people I allow myself to be present with them. Not just physically, but mentally too. I like to place myself in their shoes so I can know how they are feeling or what they are thinking. I am most proud of my clients when they are already thinking about future plans with me. If we are photographing an engagement session and they respond with “I’m definitely booking you for my baby shower or house warming” you just know from that moment that you are special to them. I want potential clients, followers, brands, and fans to know that every session I have is curated for them and only them. I take my time and creativity to create a photoshoot solely based on their style, theme, and concept.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building your reputation is a hard thing to do. One way I builded my reputation with my market is that I am my market. Most of my clients are college students, college graduates, or people that are in the creative world already. Being that I am a college graduate from the University of Central Florida. GO KNIGHTS! I already met some of my market in school. Being a respectful, and professional photographer is key to help build your reputation. Then from there is go time. I started posting what people wanted to see. I posted videos and pictures of myself so that people can see me for who I am. I let my personality show during my photoshoots but still had a professional aura.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Keeping in tough with clients is the same way you keep in touch which family. I send emails every month just talking about anything new happening with my business or any promotions that is happening that month. Returning clients may get offered discounts for coming back or they can be allowed to add something to their package for a discounted price. I like to keep in tough with all my clients whether its through email or a quick text wishing them a good day.
