We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tyler Langhorn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tyler below.
Hi Tyler, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project that I’ve been a part of is actually my next release. My friend Lennon, aka Lo-Fi Lenny, created a track called “I hope this saves you.” The song sat on my hard drive for several months until I found myself in a place where I pressed play and the track just spoke to my spirit. I had gone through my car being broken into and being scammed out of a good amount of money on the internet. I was having trouble in my relationship, I had just moved to a new state, and my mental health was crumbling. I was feeling what seemed to be the lowest I had ever felt. I opened my notebook and began writing. What came out was a song that matched the name of the instrumental – a sober, reflective look at my depression, thoughts of suicide, and the struggles I was facing in life. The song literally made me feel whole whenever I played it back.
This past spring I lost an Uncle to suicide. He was always there with hug and smile when I saw him. A few months later I lost my God Father unexpectedly. He was a great man and really leaning into being a father. In 2018 I lost my father to cancer. He was my biggest supporter and best friend. The world had taken a lot from me and I touch on that in this song. As time goes on this song gains more and more meaning for me. I’m working to colab with a men’s health organization for spreading this song. It’s a message I truly believe in.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is tyler. I write songs and poems that talk about my feelings. SOMETIMES I feel like I’m the GOAT and my songs reflect that. Sometimes I feel like the spec that Horton heard but no one knows who I am- my music reflects that too.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing for me is connecting with people. Knowing that someone heard a song and felt something, or seeing peoples faces when I’m on stage, that’s what really does it for me.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
To reach everyone I can and inspire them. To let people know they’re not alone. I just want to stand on stages around the world and do these songs for an hour that let’s people escape from their normal everyday lives.
