Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tyler Gibbs. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tyler , appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful you first have to find what you’re passionate about. It takes giving your best effort every day and dedicating endless hours of the day. It’s important to stay focused on your goals and maintain a limitless mindset.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve always had a passion for basketball since I picked up a basketball at 2 years old. My love for the game allowed me to play all throughout high school, college, and overseas. When I took a training job in China, I loved the opportunity to teach others the skills and fundamentals to be successful at the game. I knew in that moment I wanted to be able to continue to be in the gym, whether that was playing, training or coaching. When I returned home, my family and I opened Provision Sports. We have multiple AAU basketball teams that travel for tournaments in and out of state. Provision also offers skills training to all ages and I provide personal and small group trainings on the side. I think what sets me apart from others is that I am always dedicated to make other athletes be their best on and off the court. I like to challenge my players and push them to new heights, so they can see how much they can accomplish when they put in the work. I always want to make a difference in peoples lives anyway I can and see them succeed. I feel this is the best way to leave my mark and to live out the blessings God has for me.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My business partner is my father Ben Gibbs. He has coached me since I was 5 years old beginning in city leagues and clinics. He coached and trained me throughout my life. Having my father be my business partner is the best and I could not ask for a better person to do business with. He has over 20 years of coaching experience and with his basketball IQ, I learn so much from him each time I step into the gym. With our knowledge of the game as a coach and player duo, we are able to help others achieve their individual goals on the court and win games as a team. We also have opportunities to give life advice to players that need guidance or a mentor. The greatest feeling is when someone expresses how much we have done for them and how much of a blessing we are to their child. Our goal is to reach the kids in our community through basketball.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I’ve played basketball all throughout Arizona beginning in middle school, high school, college, cbl leagues and multiple competitive leagues. I think always staying in the gym and sharing my craft through social media gave me a reputation of consistency and dedication. Staying reliable and ready to compete allowed me to show others what I’m capable of and make good connections that helped me build my clientele. I think every time I meet someone, I want to represent myself well and always treat others with respect.
