We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tyler Garrett. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tyler below.
Tyler, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I am 100% happy with being a creative because it allows me to use my talents to express myself and my clients’ personalities through their spaces. While I’ve wondered what it would be like to have a regular job, I believe that consistently putting my name and work out there to grow as an artist and in my business and entrepreneurial journey is truly fulfilling and rewarding. I also wonder if my work drive would be as high in a non-creative field, where the dynamics are different.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Garrett Interiors entered the interior design industry by embarking on an internship journey in 2019, and from that point on, there was no looking back. Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I began my journey on social media back in 2018 on Instagram, and like many others, I felt nervous and unsure about what to post and whether people would appreciate it. Overcoming the fear of not being “good enough” was a turning point. Once I embraced my unique style and started sharing anything and everything that felt inspirational and important in my work and brand, something incredible happened – people loved it!
My advice for those starting to build a social media presence is simple yet vital: always remain true to your style and your brand. Authenticity is the key. Don’t be afraid to share your perspective, your passion, and your creativity. The right people, those who truly resonate with your content, will find and follow you. Remember, it’s not about appealing to everyone, but about connecting deeply with your audience.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the moment when the long process is complete, and the countless times of second-guessing your decisions are over. It’s when you can step back and see the beautiful piece of art that emerged from your own mind and imagination. Additionally, witnessing the joy on your clients’ faces when they see the finished work is truly fulfilling.
