We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tyler Folds a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tyler, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
At the end of 2023 we decided that we were going to open a second location. We had just bought out our other two business partners. Our inventory was starting to take a hit due to the expense and we were in the middle of hiring for the first time ever as a business. We had decided that the only way to make a second location work would be to have the first location fully staffed and focus on the new store almost solely. Finically we were already not doing so hot because of the buyouts and now we decided to take on way more payroll than what we could afford. Fast forward eight month to August, my business partner Joe and I open up Cold Shoulder Kicks Fort Lauderdale. Now in February 2025 the new location out performs the original one my a mile and our original location is slowly getting back to where it once was. Sometimes growing pains are the best ones to suffer in order to get ahead in life.

My name is Tyler, I’m 23 years old and own two sneaker resell stores with my business partner Joe, named Cold Shoulder Kicks.
Everything we do is buy, sell, trade. Our location in Palm Beach focuses on Jordan’s, Yeezys, dunks, and streetwear. Whereas our location in Fort Lauderdale focus primarily on designer such as Rick Owens, Balenciaga, Dior, ERD, Paly, and much more.
Alot of our clientele end us being athletes, rappers and celebrities. We care a wide range of items to try to fit the needs of everyone.
We also try to do alot on social media. We are currently at 56k on TikTok and 39k on YouTube.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I was one of the “OG” owners of the store. I met Joe from him coming in and working deals trying to build up his own inventory for his own store he was aspiring to open. Eventually we all grew close together and Joe decided to join my two previous partners and I in the store with the goal of opening another location.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building your reputation in the sneaker game is a huge necessity. I think that going to events, welcoming and working with a lot of resellers in the store and doing YouTube really helped us build our reputation quick.
