We recently connected with Tyler Fisher and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tyler thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first learned I wanted to pursue a creative path in 2016, my freshman year of college. I was part of a podcast group and then carried over into learning photography. From then on that’s all I wanted to do, was capture people in the moment. Coming from a radio household, I wanted to be different. As soon as I picked up a camera, I knew it was what I wanted to do. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph soccer games, do video for a NCAA Division 2 soccer team, and do photoshoots with friends who wanted to capture special moments in their lives.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Greetings! My name is Tyler Fisher (Ty) and I am a photographer/videographer from Columbus, Ohio. I got into my field in 2017, when I first picked up a camera while attending The Ohio Media School. I knew that from that moment on, I wanted to be a photographer/videographer. I offer a plethora of services, including family photoshoots, commercial shoots, music video shoots and video editing which is coming soon. I think what sets me apart from others is that, I don’t give direction when doing photoshoots. It’s their moment so I want them to be as natural as possible. I believe that natural reaction/interaction is better than being told what to do and forcing a smile or serious look out of the clients. I am most proud of how far I’ve come in my six years. To go from learning how to work a camera and set its functions, to now being booked through my website (tysvizhunsofficial.com).

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience through Networking. Networking can get you so many clients and build relationships. I use a Popl business card that people can scan with a QR code that links to all of my social media, my website, and even my phone number so it’s easier for those to contact me. Network. Network. Network. You will never know who you will run into, and the places you can go.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the end product and the happiness on clients faces. I recently did a photoshoot with a buddy and his exact words when I sent him all of the final photos were, “We love you man, those are incredible!!” That put a smile on my face because at the end of the shoot, he proposed to his girlfriend and I was there to capture the life changing moment. It’s the small things like compliments or when clients share your work on their social pages that make me happy because I get reassured that people are supporting me, and encouraging others to reach out to me.
