We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tyler Chronicles. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tyler below.
Alright, Tyler thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the toughest things about progressing in your creative career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
The ups and downs of being an entrepreneur can sometimes be overlooked. You have to have some type of fortitude to be way up top and down at the bottom, sometimes in the same week. Looking ahead can bring anxiety. But planning ahead can bring peace. Read that again.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was always told that I was funny from a young age. But I never thought that I could be a comedian, not like the comedian that I saw on television. I realize they had to start somewhere after I got my start and felt like I can be as good as anyone has ever done it. I initially joined an improv group, but my first time doing standup was in August 2008. I did not stop from then on. Once I started acting in independent films, I realize that I didn’t like how my character was portrayed in a lot of them so I rewrote a lot of my scenes. I was (Intern) asked to rewrite some of the other cast and there scenes. That was my initial foray into writing. I have since written for several award, shows, monologues, and even game shows.
Being a triple threat in this business, especially being black, has helped me in more ways, and it has some of my peers. I plan to be the one to help them figure out their lane.
I’m most proud that my family you can say they have someone doing well in the industry and people know who I am.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing about being a Creative is being your own boss. As tough as it is when you think about it, it’s not as tough as struggling while making money for someone else. You can work for yourself and be an independent contractor and make a great living. Also, just being able to touch peoples lives through laughter is a feeling that is hard to explain.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I am still in the process of building my social media status on all the platforms. It has really been a door to door type thing for me. The largest chunk of followers I get is literally from telling people to follow me from the stage on a microphone. I’m still trying to find my niche in the social media game and I do funny list and I believe that is going to be what takes me over the top.
