We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tyler Carpenter a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tyler thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew I wanted to be a content creator when I first got an iPad from my middle school. I used to vlog and do hauls on a school iPad and pretended that I was a famous YouTuber. Since then, I’ve naturally gravitated towards content creation, even if it was just a silly candid selfie on Instagram.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Tyler Carpenter, an 18-year-old content creator based in Atlanta. I’m currently a student at Clark Atlanta University, majoring in Marketing. My main platforms are Instagram and TikTok, where I create comedic skits about relatable topics. In my videos, I freely express myself with my mannerisms and facial expressions because when I was younger, I felt I couldn’t be myself. Now, I use social media as a means to do just that.
I’m proud of the videos I create because I use my platform as an outlet for others who may be going through hardships. My platform serves as a temporary escape from the negativity in the world for both me and my audience.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
It’s not about the monetary value or the temporary gratification of gaining traction on my account. What truly matters to me are the sweet comments and messages I receive from kids to adults, expressing how my content serves as their outlet and a source of entertainment.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
In general, I built my platform strictly through consistency. I had been posting on TikTok and Instagram for three years without gaining much traction. However, if my sophomore English teacher hadn’t assigned us a satirical content project, I wouldn’t be in the position I am today.
