We were lucky to catch up with Tyler Cupp recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tyler, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. So, we’d appreciate if you could open up about your growth story and the nitty, gritty details that went into scaling up.
I’ve fished and hunted my entire life. It’s how I release stress and enjoy nature. I have been in the Air Force for 12 years now and it’s still my favorite way to decompress. Through my travels, I’ve gotten to fish and hunt alongside a variety of different outdoorsman that taught me different techniques and tricks to hone my skills. As time went on, some of my friends started asking for tips and tricks about hunting and fishing. What better way than to show them? After taking my friends on a few trips, that’s when I realized I really enjoyed showing people what I knew and sharing the hobbies that I love. Word started to spread like a wildfire that people had a great time hunting and fishing with me then requests started trickling in from different places around Arizona. From these trips that have happened over the years, I have found that these trips were not only fun to go on, but were a way people were dealing with PTSD, depression, anxiety, trauma and other work/combat related stresses. Since realizing the impact these trips have made, my hope and mission has been to show people how to put their mind at ease by enjoying what God has provided for them. What started out as a couple of trips taking my buds out has turned into so much more. I am grateful to have made an impact in many people’s lives and through these trips, find local support within the community that share the same goals and passion that I do in caring for others. This has made what Green Line Outdoors is today.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The heart of my company is to assist those that battle with work and combat related stresses like PTSD, anxiety, depression, trauma and other related issues. I am able to show people how to put their mind at ease through hunting and fishing. Even if it is just for a day, that is a day that’s “worry free”. I also go to various events throughout the year to hold a booth with other pro military and first responder organizations to raise money in support of their cause to help others.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I feel the best source of finding my targeted audience of people has been through personal connection and social media. After every trip I provide, I make a post to my companies page then share that link with the person I took out. I then have them share the trip on their social media page because most of the time, that person has another group of similar friends that share the same hobby as them. I have found each trip reaches a whole new audience each time it is shared (sometimes up to 5k people at a time). Before the end of the year, my companies name and logo has been seen by hundreds of thousands of people without paying a dime to advertisement promotions.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe that personal connection has helped me build a good reputation. I feel crucial traits of earning a good reputation is proving to be honest, reliable, trustworthy, resilient, treating others how you would want to be treated, but most importantly, acting on your word. When you uphold these values, this will maintain a good reputation.
