We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tye Liu a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tye, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I had to admit that there was an awkward moment: the Covid 19 hit when I graduated from Emerson College 2020 with a Media Art Production degree. Filmmaking is such a practical major. Unfortunately, the movie projects were all shutting down and the companies didn’t adapt to the remote working style that quickly. When I was applying for jobs, all the resume was like throwing into the black hole. I had to do some projects on my own. What am I going to do?
“I am not coming home; ‘they’ are not coming to the US, either.” My partner and I started working on outsourcing projects, mainly documentary and commercial clips for Chinese Companies, a good beginning for a startup. We slept in the studio and took showers in LA Fitness for almost a year. Now, it all paid off.
Tye, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m not saying taking any others’ credits; creating high production value stuff just makes me feel damn good and powerful in 2020s. I was doing this during 4-year film-school; let’s do this at least another 10 years; maybe AI would finally replace me then.
I am the producer, one of the leading roles at the Easyfind Pictures, developing Indie multimedia content such as documentaries, reality shows, commercials, and event capture services for business clients and influencers. My daily job is to connect clients, find crew members, contact vendors, scout locations, cast actors etc. We are looking forward to have more international coproduction.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My couple of filmmaker friends and I were media department interns at Easyfind Company, a consulting company providing comprehensive service in Career Planning, Law, Education, and Real Estate. We teamed up and made promotion videos for the company websites. Later, we talked to the Big Boss, registered a startup, and started to work on actual film projects. Easyfind Pictures became the subsidiary of Easyfind Company. By the by, two of the cofounders felt in love with each other; they get married in China now.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
After a show, the team members will always step forward, hold hands, and take a bow. I want to see my credit on the big screens. It was like a blow, but quieter.
