Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ty Wright. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ty, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
First thing I learned was no matter what I did…. I had to be different rather it was my sound, the type of content I spoke on, my appearance, etc. There was no way to speed up this process, as it takes time to know oneself and express that; not only in way that was unfamiliar to most, but a person could still understand. That’s such an essential skill as a creative, awareness. This is awareness of those around you and of yourself. Which is the reason why the obstacles awareness can be both extremely painful yet liberating, once they have been overcame.

Ty, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I AM TY WRIGHT. iAMTYWRIGHT an artist raised on the Soufside of Atlanta, College Park to be exact. I’m an artist who speaks on the mindse of some people who may have had the same or similar socioeconomic background, rather it’s condescending or truly straightforward. I began rapping since I was about 7 but starting writing music around 16-17. I decided to take music much more seriously later down the line. I am person who comes up with different cadences atleast 2 times a day, which speaks on my level of commitment and discipline. My consistent efforts I know will make me into one of the best artist the city and world has ever seen it’s only a matter of time. My ability to never stop in an over saturated industry is what makes me proud, I have too many people who look at me as an example… I can’t let them down.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Honestly… I’m learning to not give a damn about opinions of people. I won’t let anyone feed my ego, because I won’t give them the power to starve it. Opinions are like assholes…. Everyone has one, and they can sometimes be shitty. After a lifetime of being scrutinized… it makes you numb to all the negativity.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Just to know that people feel how I do, they relate to my joy, my pain, my happiness, my sorrows. It lets me know that these feelings are not exclusive, and it’s encouraging to know that someone heard your music on a level that is not necessarily shallow..
