We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ty Slydell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ty below.
Ty , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
To date, my parents have done everything right. My mother and father show their love in very different ways and yet, to me, it has been the greatest gift of all. Dad is literally superman and no one could ever tell me he’s not. Mom is all kinds of whimsical yet the realest person you’ll ever meet. I’ve been taught to love wholeheartedly between them both. My parents are my best friends, spelling L-O-V-E as T-I-M-E. They’ve made it their goal to put their children’s goals at the forefront, which is why my siblings and I seek to always make them proud. We understand that our mere happiness is what makes them proud and everything else is just the cherry on top.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Ty Slydell, the founder of Slydell Studios. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to connect with ladies and share a bond through fun, wholesome and artistic events. Slydell Studios started during my college years as a space for hair styling, makeup, film art and DIY crafts. Soon the brand began to focus on all creative experiences thus forming the studio!
At Slydell Studios, we expand our creative talents through the all of the arts and in the process, build lasting memories + lifelong friendships. The goal is to always be reminded that there’s POWER in being authentically you. There doesn’t have to be one talent that defines you as a creative, it’s completely acceptable to be multifaceted!
Our focus at Slydell Studios rely on experiences and genuine bonds. We are most proud of these moments and through them, continue to build our Galfriend Gang. We encourage ladies to join an event, attend a class and most of all, enjoy the many experiences curated by Slydell Studios.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the experiences made. Nothing brings me more joy than to see the expressions in the faces of individuals from all walks of life genuinely happy due to a space myself and/or my team has created. The results are inspiring, beautiful and a whole vibe! It truly makes one want to keep going.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
To best support artists, curators and a thriving creative ecosystem, we can do better as a society by showing up to the spaces right in our own backyards. Oftentimes we find it more natural to support those idols and changemakers we’ve never met than to support our own neighbors, our own brothers and sisters from or residing in our communities. I know it can be a bit nerve wracking because of how antisocial many of us have become; but we have to step outside, put the gadgets away sometimes and be in the moment. The right now is what’s important, not the future or the past.
