We were lucky to catch up with Twanza Ausborn recently and have shared our conversation below.
Twanza, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Growing up as a young girl, I have always been into fashion. I enjoyed playing dressup, makeup, etc. I was a young fashionista. Later in highschool, I was awarded best dress in my class and I knew then I was walking into my passion. I gratuated highschool and went on to college, majoring in the medical field but still felt something was missing. I started a thrift group where I sold some of my clothing, shoes and accessories. The group was over the top in sales. As I grew on into adulthood, I decided that I would someday open my open boutique. I did my research and I am now fully working my niche. I wouldnt trade it for nothing. I enjoy working with customers, I enjoy their inquiries, questions, and concerns. My customer base grows daily and I am grateful for each of them, I plan to continue this journey and expand in the near future.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am 38 years old, born and raised in Mississippi. I am a mother of 2. I provide clothing for women of all sizes, shapes and color. As a young girl I have always had a niche for fashion and oneday decided to branch out to opening my own boutique. I research for a year before I got into the industry. It was not easy. It was not hard. It took communication, dedication, and consistency. Once doing so, I began to market myself. I got cards and flyers made to promote myself before going all in. I also purchased a URL. I then began to place small orders from vendors. Once my product came in, I advertised through all social media platforms including my website and sold from there. I am
most proud that I believed in myself enough to step out on faith and invest in myself. My business has grown and is steadily growing. I appreciate each of my customers dearly; without them there is no All Things Chic & Company. I stand tall behind my products and my brand. Good quality is a must for me. Im also very attentitive and active with my customers as well.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My best source of new clients are those that allow me to style them. Also those that promote my business and refer others. Those that trust me to enhance their beauty and are eager to shop.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
I do sell online which is my website. I also have a private boutique group on facebook. It has been a great platform so far. I have over 5K members. The group is growing daily. The pros/cons are limited. Its all about marketing.
