We were lucky to catch up with Twanna Joyner-Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Twanna, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with talking about how you serve the underserved, because in our view this is one of the most important things the small business community does for society – by serving those who the giant corporations ignore, small business helps create a more inclusive and just world for all of us.
In under-resourced communities, families facing hunger confront numerous challenges beyond access to transportation and healthcare. Education, among others , compounds these difficulties . Our organization is attuned to these issues , prioritizing communities that often go unnoticed. Through various training and outreach initiatives, we foster inclusive environments, nurturing personal connections with our target demographics. Collaboration is key: hence, we actively broaden our network of partnerships with diverse organizations and agencies. Our ethos revolves around selfless service and unwavering dedication to community welfare.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As the Founder and President of The Help Center NC, a 501c3 organization, we are dedicated to combating hunger and addressing emergency needs for individuals experiencing poverty and other challenges. Since a younger age, my passion for assisting those in need has continued to grow. Our organization has expanded to serve 8 counties across North Carolina, with love as our cornerstone and offering assistance and hope as our fundamental values. Making a Difference Together is our motto.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My resilience is deeply rooted in passion, empathy and compassion which helps me to navigate through my own challengers of running a business I prioritize the bigger picture of supporting individuals in overcoming obstacles and emergencies. At the core of our operations is the foundation of Help and Hope, which guides all our endeavors. My faith in God and family is my strong support systems that keeps me grounded in all that I do.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met my Co-Founder almost 28 years ago in high school. My Co-Founder/Business partner is my husband and best friend. His passion to serve is relevant to all.
