We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tuyana Chimitova. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tuyana below.
Tuyana, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I earn a living through two main creative avenues: my paintings and graphic design. My paintings are sold through exhibitions, galleries, and online platforms, and I also conduct workshops. In graphic design, I create logos and visual materials for companies, helping them build recognizable brands. These two fields complement each other, and my passion, continuous development, and willingness to experiment are key to my success, allowing me to earn a stable income while doing what I love.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Tuyana Chimitova, an artist and graphic designer originally from the small village of Aginskoe in Siberia, now residing in Dallas, Texas. I graduated from Buryat State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Decorative and Applied Arts and Graphic Design. My creative journey began during my student years, when my works were recognized as the best, leading to invitations to paint murals in private enterprises. Additionally, I participated in student shows, exhibitions, and contests, which helped shape my early career. I owe a great deal to my drawing and design teachers, Petr Fedetovich Mulonov, Irina Levovna Dulchaeva, and my best teacher, Zoya Ivanovna Paznikova, for their unwavering support of my talent in the art industry.
My recent projects at the Saatchi Gallery show in Dallas include themed art collections, such as a series centered around circles and abstract paintings made of epoxy resin. These projects aim to evoke different emotions and thoughts in the viewer, often exploring unique themes and concepts.
Currently, I am working on a project to create labels for Alexander Delacqua a hair and skincare brand, including a new collection of body creams. This project allows me to blend my artistic vision with practical design solutions, creating visually appealing and effective branding.
In my active projects, I have created designs for major companies such as Delacqua Salon and Spa, Alexander Delacqua brand, Nomad Wellness Spa, ANGIR Inc., WOWBODYNYC, Ali Alash Corporation, Analine LipBalm brand, MS Comfort Beauty, and an Annual Planner Book and ect. I can say that today I have more than 50 creative projects that live and operate not only in America but also in Europe. These collaborations have allowed me to contribute to the development of strong, recognizable brands and enhance their visual identity.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My primary goal is to inspire and connect with people through my art and design. I strive to create pieces that not only capture attention but also provoke thought and evoke emotions. Whether through a striking painting or a well-crafted brand design, I aim to bring beauty and meaning into everyday life. My mission is to continue evolving as an artist and designer, constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity while maintaining a strong connection with my audience.
What sets me apart is my diverse skill set and my ability to adapt to different creative challenges. Having experience in both graphic design and fine art allows me to approach projects from a unique perspective. I’m constantly learning and evolving, which keeps my work fresh and innovative.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In my opinion, there are several ways society can best support artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem:
1. Recognition and Respect: Acknowledge the value of art and creativity in society. This includes recognizing artists as professionals and respecting their work as a legitimate career path.
2. Financial Support: Provide funding and grants for artists and creatives to pursue their work. This can help alleviate financial pressures and allow them to focus on their artistic endeavors.
3. Accessible Spaces and Resources: Create and maintain spaces where artists can work, collaborate, and showcase their work. This includes affordable studios, galleries, and performance venues, as well as access to tools, materials, and technology.
4. Education and Training: Offer opportunities for artists to develop their skills and knowledge. This can include workshops, mentorship programs, and formal education in arts and creative fields.
5. Promotion and Exposure: Support artists in promoting their work and reaching a wider audience. This can include showcasing their work in public spaces, online platforms, and through collaborations with other artists and organizations.
6. Cultural Policy and Advocacy: Develop and implement policies that support the arts and creative industries. This can include funding for public art projects, tax incentives for arts organizations, and support for arts education in schools.
7. Community Engagement: Encourage community participation in the arts. This can include supporting local arts festivals, events, and initiatives that bring people together through creative expression.
By supporting artists and creatives in these ways, society can help foster a vibrant and sustainable creative ecosystem that benefits everyone.
