We recently connected with Tulani Agnew and have shared our conversation below.

Tulani, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

One night at like 3am I could not sleep for anything. I just kept tossing and turning so I got up and went in my moms room that night, and surprisingly enough she was up we got to talking about innovative ways to make more money, and how we want to become rich we were stating that we feel that the evil sometimes become wealthy and the good have to go through all the bad before they get a chance to reap the rewards. Then we got into talking about more ideas outside of the ideas that already succeeded at such as my boutique, my T-shirts, my online pet store, and now another future endeavor. Then all of a sudden I got the idea. I was like I should monetize offer something that can make me money.. she looked up at me because she was like UH OH what did you get to thinking? I started laughing because she knows how outrageous I am, but I told her I was thinking my smile, or either mean as in becoming a clothes ambassador. She didn’t say she didn’t like the idea. She was just very supportive and felt that was a good idea too! Mom has always been my biggest fan my number one supporter, she has the most wise advice you could ever encounter. Then she told me she likes something with the name tutu because that’s my nickname and she was like I’m thinking something like tutuwhiteteeth. And I was like no I think we should do something tutubright. Or a Pearled by T. She didn’t like the pearled by T. but she was like I like the tutu bright and she was like what about tutubrightwhiteining since you’ll be whitening teeth. and BOOM! that’s how my forever endeavor came about and every since then i’ve touched over 100 mouths.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Well the Brand Tutubritewhitening has been providing the best services to Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas every since 2021. There is a lot of anxiety and questions regarding oral hygiene and I am here to educate and learn with you. I work as a full time dental receptionist cross trained in minor assisting. My passion stems from seeing the joy a brighter smile can cause in less than a hour. I always try to recommend people see a regular dentist every 6-12 months for their annual check up to evaluate and diagnose before proceeding in any cosmetic measures. I’m most proud of the amazing quality I feel that I have to offer at an affordable price.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

My business Tutubritewhitening was funded by my village back home. My mom threw me a surprise 20th birthday and one of my surprises of the party was a table for my next business endeavor cause everybody knew I was an entrepreneur and that my first two business were pretty booming. They all put together over $1100 for me and let me choose what I wanted to do which was either open another boutique but in charlotte as a down payment and or choose what else I wanted which on my mind then was teeth whitening or micro blading and the micro blading class was sold out. I feel that was a sign for my calling and now I’m stuck in deep as I enjoy what I do. I was taught 3 things in one class and have two tricks to unfold.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

Truly networking and social media. Consistency is key I’ve seen results posting everyday rather than I have when I am trying to work around my full time and not posting for weeks at a time. Generally word of mouth with business cards ready and explaining to people what I do,’showing them pictures of my work also.
