Tuan Anh, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

I think after finished my graphic design degree, I think graphic design and nails are link together. I also like to draw in small canvas specially in a tiny surface like nails.

Hello, I’m Tuan Anh Le, and I’ve embarked on an incredible artistic journey that has led me from the world of graphic design to the captivating realm of nail art. After graduating from San Diego City College with an Associate of Arts degree in Graphic Design, I initially pursued a career working in a design firm. However, my insatiable desire for more intricate and hands-on artistic expression eventually drew me towards the fascinating world of nails.

Having a strong foundation in graphic design, I found myself captivated by the intricate details and limitless creative possibilities that nail art offers. I began my nail art journey as a nail technician, starting with gel and dip services before gradually diving into the art of acrylics and professional nail designs. It was important to me to build a solid understanding of nail care fundamentals, including cuticle cutting, filing, and shaping, before venturing into the realm of intricate designs.

Drawing upon my background in graphic design, I bring a unique perspective and artistic vision to my nail art creations. I love to sketch and conceptualize ideas, and I find the digital tools in programs like Illustrator invaluable for translating my visions into stunning nail art designs. By meticulously planning each design, I seamlessly merge my graphic design expertise with the intricate artistry of nail design, resulting in truly unique and captivating creations.

Not only am I passionate about creating nail art, but I also have a strong desire to share my knowledge and help others grow. As an instructor, I, along with three friends, travel to different locations offering nail art workshops. Interacting with aspiring nail technicians allows me to better understand their struggles and needs, continually refining my own skills and teaching methods. It brings me great joy to be a mentor and advocate for the nail art community, nurturing the talent and creativity of others.

In addition to my creative endeavors, I have also launched my own line of nail art products. Through careful curation, I offer a range of acrylic brushes, gel paints, marble inks, and other essential tools that empower fellow nail artists to unleash their creativity and bring their unique visions to life.

One of the aspects I truly love about being a nail artist is the opportunity to connect with people. I thoroughly enjoy the social aspect of my work, getting to know my clients on a personal level and providing them with a delightful and social experience while showcasing my artistic talents.

From sketching designs to executing them on a small canvas with precision and artistry, my journey as a nail artist beautifully merges my graphic design background with the world of nail art. My creative journey as a nail artist is driven by a particular goal and mission that fuels my passion and keeps me inspired. It all begins with the merging of my background in graphic design and my exploration of nail art, allowing me to embark on a unique and fulfilling artistic path.

My goal is to push the boundaries of what is possible within the realm of nail art by infusing my designs with the meticulous attention to detail and innovative concepts I’ve acquired through graphic design. I strive to create nail art that not only stands out but also captivates viewers, leaving a lasting impression.

Beyond my personal artistic pursuits, I have a mission to share my knowledge, inspire creativity, and help others improve their skills as nail technicians. For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

As an artist and creative, the most rewarding aspect for me is the ability to channel my imagination and express my unique perspective through my work. Being able to bring ideas to life and create something tangible from intangible thoughts is an incredibly fulfilling experience.

The freedom to explore different mediums, experiment with various techniques, and push the boundaries of creativity is truly gratifying. It allows me to constantly evolve as an artist, discover new styles, and challenge myself to reach new heights in my craft.

Moreover, the impact and connection that my artwork can have on others is immensely rewarding. When my creations resonate with people, evoke emotions, or inspire them in some way, it reaffirms the power of art to communicate and touch lives. Knowing that my work can make a positive difference or bring joy to someone’s day is incredibly fulfilling and motivates me to continue creating.
