We caught up with the brilliant and insightful TtheCartel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
TtheCartel , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
Taking time out the day to actually sit down & see how everything work far as beats & engineering. Knowing what i know now I wish I would have broke down each program more to know all the techniques and the tricks you can use to making beats or engineering. The most essential tool i use is to do it every day to learn something new. Really the only obstacles that would stand in the way is when people wanting to get you out your focus so i had to sacrifice goin out and hanging just so i can get better each and everyday
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Im a “Music Producer” meaning i make beats and I’m a Recording engineer as well. I got into music a while ago when i was younger goin to church seeing people play the drums and the keyboard. I try my best to solve all my clients problem’s so they could be comfortable with their music & themselves cause some artists tend to overthink things in the studio and ill tell them to not to overthink things cause you’ll be making it harder on yourself. One thing that set me apart from other engineers and producers is i want everyone i work with to have the most updated sound. I feel like if everything sounding right it could be a hit off top. New things i got coming soon I’m very proud of is i got my team on the right path shoutout the Whole “RSL” & “WestEnd” we got a lot of new content on the way im very proud of everyone of them.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
One main goal I’m striving for is be one of the most consistent and not only that I also want every song to actually be a hit song. Im working on a label right now i want them to have the best push behind them so we going to work our hardest to get that done.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A While Back when i was in school i was on the verge of giving up cause I felt like it wasn’t working out with the music. Plus i had a lot of other things goin on but as soon as i was deciding to put the music down, I received a placement on “ Finesse2Tymes “ Tape “Hustle & Flow” After that released I started to get a lot of feed back from the industry. One Particular person I connected with was “ Tay Keith “ he showed love and continue to still show love til this day. So if you wanting to stop doing anything that you are passionate for but feel like it ain’t working out right now just keep goin and stay focused it’s all going to work out.
