We were lucky to catch up with TT Wills recently and have shared our conversation below.
TT, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I had the opportunity to record three songs that I co-wrote at The Hideout in Las Vegas. It took me years to face my fears and get it together enough to record in such a high caliber studio. Being able to complete those projects, and have a finished product has been really rewarding. it has been totally liberating for me to validate the creative side of myself and share it
TT, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am vocalist and a graduate of Musicians Institute. I have been working on my craft for a long time and have played in various venues around Las Vegas. At the moment, I am focusing on writing and recording and releasing music as TT Wills. I lean toward hard rock and EDM, and have also done my fair share of piano bar. An essential part of my brand is I want to bravely inspire other people, especially women of a certain age, that it is not too late to start honoring who you are and take steps to build on that, whatever that looks like for them. I want to build my following and continue to share my journey with Vegas and beyond.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Years ago, I was all set to launch with my artistic ideas and was instead faced with a health crisis that required me to drop my own plans, pivot and focus on my child’s illness. It was heartbreaking. It really set me back emotionally, mentally, and physically and took me years to start over again. I am most proud of myself for finding the resilience to come back to my true heart’s desire despite feeling too old to compete. At the end of the day, it is really about me validating myself and my own unique voice.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Yes. A big part of being a creative is access to other creatives and finding artistic opportunities. Obviously, social media was not around when I was younger. And to be honest, I was slightly terrified of it when it first came out. My new goal is to now use it to interact and collaborate with other musicians and creatives. For example, my songwriting process is finding strong material so I can write the lyrics and melodies. That is my jam. The trick is finding those people that I can work with, and social media is the ticket.
