We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tsitsi Hungwe. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tsitsi below.
Tsitsi, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
At the height of career as Dentist during the pandemic I was seeking a new direction. I began to search for other avenues of support for networking and mentoring this led me to eventually meeting my amazing influential mentors Cedrick LaFleur, Dr. Nicole Rankine and Angela Hooper-Menifield. I started my business and learned how to lay a solid foundation for it through their Bootcamp program at the time and Higher Mountaintops was birthed. They say the most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you understand why. Following the Bootcamp my why was crystal clear to me and I knew that the trajectory of my life would forever be changed and the rest is history. Today I sit at the helm of Higher Mountaintops as Chief Executive. We help early professional women overcome the overwhelm of career transition through coaching, leadership development and assessments so they have clarity and confidence to successfully transition into their next chapter and feel more in control over their lives.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a proud immigrant from Harare, Zimbabwe and moved to the U.S with my parents and siblings. From a young age in hindsight I always had the gift of connecting with others and knew that I wanted to help people in some capacity. I am happy that I know my why and look forward to future opportunities to continue to make an impact. I am the Coach that I needed and would have wanted during the early stages of my career. Higher Mountaintops is my gift to the world and will be apart of my lasting legacy long after my time here on earth.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Most of us know the phrase “practice makes perfect.” I have circled back to the phrase and reframed it over the years to “practice makes progress’ in fact my mentor Angela Hooper-Menifield says it best when she says ‘perfection is not a requirement.’
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social Media is a gift and is a wonderful way to gain visibility and grow your business. Consistency is the key and has helped me grow my presence. Each individual gets to define what consistency means to them. I would advise those starting to build their business to select a platform or 2 and begin sharing your message through social media so you aren’t the best secret out there.
