We recently connected with Tsar Kimbell and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tsar , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
Establishing my own practice taught me so many lessons, positive and negative. I decided to start my own postop company during Covid. Having the knowledge of being a seamstress, created an opportunity for the medical industry. After I decided to get plastic surgery, I wasn’t left with any postop care instructions, which I had to learn on my own. During the healing process of my surgery, I was purchasing compression garment fajas online. As my body decreased in swelling, my size in the Fajas did as well. I started creating custom garments for myself, and then reached out to plastic surgeons to provide them with custom compression garments for their patients. Throughout my journey in plastic surgery I shadowed Dr. Obeng in Beverly Hills and work at the hospital to learn more about wound care. Now I am opening my med spa providing quality care to patients. Some of my challenges were being able to stay focused and motivated with school, and other obligations with in the medical field to obtain the knowledge and experience to practice. Advice for young professionals, who are interested in medical field, and plastic surgery, is to do your research and map out your career plan. You can achieve many things at once, as long as you have balance.

Tsar , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Things that readers may not know about me is I have always been in the beauty industry and my appearance has always been important. I’ve always been into beauty and cosmetic enhancements and spas. Opening my own spa was something I’ve always wanted to do and some thing I’ve always been passionate about. It took a lot of discipline because of the experience, schooling and dedication to learn and get certifications and degrees that pertain to practicing. Our spa has many services that pertain to light therapy, pain therapy, hair, restoration, Beauty enhancements and postop care for plastic surgery. The products we provide are natural healing products, custom compression, garments, and many other things. We also provide online and in person consultations as well as certifications to become a postop specialist.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
It is very helpful for you to maintain finances, so that you have a successful business with a solid foundation. It is important to create a business plan so that you have everything mapped out as far as finances, marketing, and the general overhead of your business.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy in growing your clientele is making sure you are knowledgeable and passionate about your company. It’s important to identify your clientele market. It will give you a better idea of how to market and who to market to.
