We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Trynitee Sance. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Trynitee below.
Alright, Trynitee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One deeply underappreciated facet of entrepreneurship is the kind of crazy stuff we have to deal with as business owners. Sometimes it’s crazy positive sometimes it’s crazy negative, but crazy experiences unite entrepreneurs regardless of industry. Can you share a crazy story with our readers?
In September of 2022 I was extremely overwhelmed with the upkeep of the team and other things going on in my life. My plan was to take a year off and start back up at the end of 2023. I prayed and told God if I’m doing the wrong thing send a sign. Right when I started writing my letter to parents, the San Antonio Spurs called for us to perform the Half Time Show. It was right on time!
Trynitee, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Trynitee Essynce, also known to all of my kids as “Coach T”. I’ve been teaching dance since 8th grade and running Essence of Dance here in San Antonio since 2020. We cater to ages 3 to 18 in Hip hop, Liturgical, Pom, Jazz, and Step. We believe, and teach each young girl apart of our team that they are beautiful and worthy of every good thing that happens to them in their everyday lives. Essence of Dance is not just a dance team but in some ways a mentorship program. We “do life” with our kids on and off the dance floor. Some would refer to us as a “big happy family.” I think one of the beautiful things about our team is as long as we’re together we don’t really let much alarm us. We pride ourselves on having one another’s back.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think being as genuine as possible with every move I make when it comes to every person that’s apart of the EOD family, and those seeking to partner. I’m very intentional with anything anyone gives or offers me. I try not to leave room for anyone to feel unheard or unappreciated.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Don’t ever miss an opportunity to show your team that they are loved and appreciated. Some times I wake up and I send them messages about how grateful I am for them. Other days I might pop into rehearsal with some goodies for them. Also learn their individual love languages. Some may prefer a random phone call over a Starbucks gift card. You’re only as good as your team. Make sure they know it.
