We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Trung-Kien Messerli. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Trung-Kien below.
Trung-Kien, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I’ve always believed that we’re all artists, It just might take some people longer than others to find their medium. With the knowledge that I have now, I’d tell my younger self and most artists in general to just enjoy the process. That the bad moments are just as important as the good ones, and that you need both for contrast.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello My name is Trung Kiên.
I’m an artist from Vietnam. Throughout my life I’ve always wondered what it was that I could pass on or leave behind before I’m gone. Not in a morbid kinda sense but in a “don’t waste this time” kinda sense. I currently make tattoos for a living, I got into tattooing because I was getting tattooed a lot when I was younger and I honestly just fell in love with everything about it. It was rough at first, but most things are. Now I’m proud to say over the course of five years I’ve built a family around me that I am eternally grateful for. Someone once told me that they feel I’m more of a therapist than a tattoo artist but what they don’t realize is it’s just as much of a therapy for me as it is for them. It’s a constant give-and-take. That’s what I love about this whole thing, not just tattooing, but art and life in general. Once you see it in one thing you can see it in all
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
