We were lucky to catch up with Trudi Nye recently and have shared our conversation below.
Trudi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I have always been artistic, and have dabbled in all kinds of art designs and mediums. My favorites have been painting, calligraphy and wire/metal work. I originally wanted a hobby that I could do in my living room, to spend time with my (late) husband. I saw a ring on someone, couldn’t find any like it to purchase, so I decided to try to make it myself. And I did. I loved it. So did my friends, and that is when I decided to try to sell my designs.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I used my spare time creating jewelry during the shutdowns, and after my husband passed away, I used designing jewelry as a way to keep my mind occupied during the grieving process. I get many special orders, for size and colors, different metals, and I love the challenge that these orders bring to me. I love to deliver artwork that carries a special meaning to others, as well.
One of the best feelings is seeing my family, friends and patrons, out and about, wearing my creations!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’ve always been very busy on social media, and I tend to share a lot. I started using myself and my daughter as jewelry models, but I also like to take very appealing pictures of my designs to share as well. I’m very attuned to colors, simplicity, and perspective in my photographs. As a result, I do believe that it makes my artwork all that more desirable. I often share my business page on my personal page and sometimes even offer giveaways to my followers that share my posts too. Good customer service and reviews are a must!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to create designs that are inexpensive, fun, lightweight and original. No two are alike, as each piece is hand made, cut and bent. No one wants to see others wearing the exact same thing as they are, and my designs are unique. I do not use jigs when I bend metal, it’s all done by hand.
