We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Troy Taylor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Troy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
As a boutique services firm that offers executive coaching, training, and consulting services. I approach my potential clients differently. Although I briefly share the suite of my services visually. I don’t pitch my services, send proposals or commoditize my services. I take a co-creative approach when discussing whether we (the potential client & I) are a “right fit” for each other. We also co-create their desired solutions and outcomes based on our working together

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Troy Taylor, MBA, PCC, is a certified Executive Coach, facilitator, trainer, speaker, and solution provider for Leaders, teams, and individuals. I specialize in helping small to midsize Technology Companies develop their Technical Leaders to Improve Performance, Retention and Develop New Leaders, using a 3- step A.C.E. process.
I always felt people deserve success when working hard, whether starting their business or rising in a company. However, as we grow and develop, additional skills and tools are required to sustain and ascend. I see people getting stuck, not having clarity, or being unable to navigate their challenges and not knowing where to start. It’s frustrating because they have been successful in other areas, but it doesn’t necessarily apply to leading or developing others, etc.
My power of 3C’s.
I help you with Clarity ➡ Communication ➡ Connection
I help others with Clarity (who they are and what they want)
Communication (the ability to express themselves powerfully and effectively)
Connection (ability to resonate with others with their clarity & communication).

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
“I know already.” I had to unlearn the thought of saying I know something. Being familiar with something and knowing something are two different things. Whether it was social media or marketing, just having a mindset I’m familiar with must mean I know it. That thinking has led me to half-attempts and bad strategies until I took a step back and got focused.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As an entrepreneur, you learn very quickly about the “lonely work.” The “Lonely Work” is work only you can do, whether it relates to strategy, decision-making, execution, etc. Early in my business, I struggled to clarify my ideal client. I initially thought about it fast or looked outside myself for answers. As you can imagine, that didn’t produce clients; however, when I did the lonely work on focusing on who my ideal client is, things started to change.
