We recently connected with Troy Ramcharran and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Troy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later?
I started Ramar Event Productions at a pivotal time in my life. I wanted a career that brought meaning and gratification. I was ready to embrace the challenges of entrepreneurship and new beginnings, driven by a deep desire for happiness and purpose. It was a big leap into the unknown, but I had my family’s prayers and unwavering support. They wanted the best for me after years as an IT professional. That and fueled by passion and a desire to make people happy with music, I set out to create unforgettable experiences in the event industry.
When I launched the business, it took time for us to break into the industry, but we kept pushing forward. We networked with like-minded individuals, gained invaluable experience, and even did a lot of work for free to build relationships and trust. Life-wise, I had reached a point where I craved more autonomy and the opportunity to craft something uniquely my own. It felt like the right moment to take the plunge, and in hindsight, the timing brought wisdom that only life and experience could provide.
Had I started sooner, I might have faced more challenges due to a lack of experience, knowledge, or financial stability. I wouldn’t have had the same insights or the understanding of the industry’s nuances that I gained over time. Starting later, however, might have meant missing out on key opportunities that arose during those early years or being too cautious to take risks. But with that said, if you’re going to do something, do it now—with no regrets. We don’t control time, and who’s to say one time is better than the next? We only have one life. It’s all about the process and the experience you gain. Start now!
Looking back, I believe the timing was just right for me. Starting Ramar when I did allowed me to bring my vision to life with a blend of youthful energy and practical knowledge, supported by the wisdom life had already imparted. Each stage of life teaches us something different, and those lessons become the foundation for future success.
Ultimately, it’s not so much about when you start but about how you embrace the journey—one foot in front of the other, guided by the “Ask, Seek, Knock” approach. Timing equips you with perspective and clarity, but commitment and resilience make all the difference. So, if there’s something you want to pursue, start now and trust the process—you’ll gain the wisdom you need along the way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the ability to transform ideas and emotions into tangible, unforgettable experiences. There’s something magical about taking a blank canvas—whether it’s an empty venue, a stage, or even just a concept—and turning it into something that captivates and inspires people.
At the heart of it, what fuels me is the impact our work has on others. Seeing the joy, wonder, and excitement on people’s faces when they walk into a beautifully lit room or hear the perfect harmony of sound at an event—that’s the reward. Knowing that I’ve played a part in creating memories that people will cherish for years is incredibly fulfilling.
Being a creative also allows me to constantly learn and innovate. Every project is a new challenge, and I love the process of brainstorming, problem-solving, and pushing boundaries to deliver something extraordinary. It’s never monotonous, and that keeps my passion alive.
Lastly, the ability to connect with people through art and creativity is deeply meaningful. Whether it’s collaborating with planners, working alongside talented teams, or building relationships with clients, creativity is a bridge that brings people together. It’s not just about the final product; it’s about the shared journey of bringing a vision to life. That, for me, is the most rewarding part.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Certainly! One story that stands out vividly from my journey and exemplifies resilience comes from the early days of Ramar Event Productions. It was during a particularly challenging time—the Covid season—when breaking into the event industry was anything but easy. Without a massive portfolio or big-name clients to showcase, I had to rely on sheer determination, creativity, and an unwavering work ethic. One particular event—a corporate retreat—became a defining moment for both me and my business.
I had secured the job through a distant connection, and at the time, it was one of the biggest opportunities I’d ever had. Just a few days before the event, the company’s CEO called me with a tone of concern. “I don’t think you understand what we’re trying to do here,” he said. “We’ve been locked up for months. My team needs to break out and have some fun.”
I froze. I had already prepared for what they initially requested, but their needs had changed drastically, and the pressure was on. People had been confined to their homes, businesses were shuttered, and this CEO was yearning for something extraordinary. I didn’t have what they needed readily available, and I was hit with the weight of the moment. Panic set in, but giving up wasn’t an option. Not only was their reputation—and mine—on the line, but God knows I needed the money. Today, this moment has shaped one of our core values: never say “no” to a client.
I got to work immediately. Instead of making excuses, I leaned into the challenge, reaching out to every contact I could think of. I solicited, bartered, and even purchased equipment from multiple vendors—some located hours away—and drove through the night to gather what I needed. To make matters even more difficult, the day of the event brought a sudden ice storm, complicating the already tight setup schedule. With a small but dedicated team who risked it all, equipped with negative Covid tests, we completely reimagined our approach. We worked tirelessly to protect the equipment while ensuring everything was installed safely and on time.
Despite the setbacks, we delivered exactly what the client wanted—and more. The event was a smashing success. The CEO and his team were overjoyed, and for the first time in months, we all experienced a sense of joy and relief from the weight of the pandemic. What stayed with me wasn’t just the stress or exhaustion, but the overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment afterward. In fact, that CEO was so impressed that we now handle all of their company celebrations.
That experience taught me that resilience isn’t just about enduring challenges—it’s about staying resourceful, maintaining a positive attitude, and trusting in your ability to adapt. It reminded me that sometimes, your greatest growth comes from the most uncomfortable situations.
Looking back, I consider that moment a turning point in my journey. It reinforced the importance of grit, preparation, and surrounding myself with a team that shares the same “never give up” mindset. Resilience isn’t about avoiding challenges—it’s about facing them head-on, adapting when the unexpected arises, and coming out stronger on the other side.
