Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Troy Gregory. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Troy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I would like to start this story by stating a quote…
“There are some ideas you think of, and some ideas that come to you”
19 years ago I became homeless when I was emancipated from my family that adopted me, I remained homeless for 15 years. During my time being homeless, I recognized that some of the brightest minds can be discovered in the darkest parts of the world which led to the thought that these bright minds had no platform to share their stories or perspectives. While I was homeless, I was exposed to a lot of information concerning the world some of it good, some of it bad. When I started to put my experiences into perspective I recognized that I wanted to leave behind a timeless legacy that positively impacts the world.
As the future continues to become the present, the rise of social media along with the machine age has me pondering human evolution and what that looks like in the future. When I look at the world nowadays, I wonder what does the perservation of authenticity look like, what does it look like to archive the human experience, and what is being human going to mean in the next 10 to 20 years with the integration of technology via the human body. In a world where I believe that technology will present a major hindirance on our ability to connect as humans. I feel as though my platform HVMAN (human) can/will bring people together in a way that fosters genuine connections, and allows people from around the world to come together forming a global community where people can learn from each other’s stories and perspective.
In the end somebody has to do it, somebody has to say something feels off let me counteract what feels off with something that feels right, something that will make me feel that as a human being I am doing what’s right for the greater good of humanity!
Troy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
In the previous section, I stated that there are some ideas you think of, and some ideas that come to you!
Before there was HVMAN there was The Ghost Project an idea I thought of. The Ghost Project was originally intended to be a drum and bass podcast shared between a friend and me. The Ghost Project became an event management company in 2017, I threw two mansion parties and a glow-in-the-dark festival by the name of Incandescence | The Nightwalker Festival. Incandescence | The Nightwalker Festival incorporated a glow-in-the-dark mural competition, a glow-in-the-dark art gallery, amazing performances, and much more. As years went by I reflected on what I wanted The Ghost Project to become, I decided to turn The Ghost Project into a creative/innovative solutions company that partners with artists, musicians, start-ups, entrepreneurs, and anyone with creative needs to advance their careers and businesses. Knowing that an idea can change the fate of tomorrow for a better day. As of now, The Ghost Project doesn’t render any services we will begin rendering services again in late 2023/early 2024. Our main focus as of now is to get HVMAN established on a global scale.
HVMAN is an idea that came to me it began as a drawing that evolved into a multimedia platform…
For those of you who have never heard of HVMAN…
HVMAN is a multimedia platform that encourages people to find truth in another person’s perspective, bringing people together one culture at a time. HVMAN is broken down into multiple segments. Let me introduce them below:
1. HVMAN focuses on one on one interviews that capture a person’s life story where they answer thought-provoking questions, allowing them to be transparent, giving them space to be themselves.
2. HVMAN [Campfire Sessions] Campfire Sessions addresses events taking place in the global community, giving people from around the world a voice where they can share their perspectives and expertise on different subject matters. This segment provokes thoughtful conversation and provides resources that people can use in their everyday life. Below are some examples of Campfire Sessions we have done in the past.
[Campfire Session] Subject Matters:
The Confidence War
The Confidence War addresses moments where we are at war with ourselves internally/externally and how it affects our confidence. In this session, we will be looking at what triggers these external/internal conflicts while exploring what we can do to build our confidence.
Sonic Alchemy
Sonic Alchemy is dedicated to the effect that music has on our lives. In this session, we will discuss the conscious and unconscious impact music has on us, how frequencies relay messages to the human body and how you can tell a lot about a person by the music they listen to.
The Will to Live
The Will to Live is dedicated to one of our supporter’s grandmothers who simultaneously battled pneumonia alongside covid-19 and persevered. In this session, we will be discussing what drives our will to live and the energy that goes behind it. The difference between those who strive to stay alive and those who unconsciously or consciously don’t put in the effort to survive.
3. HVMAN [Interpretations] is where we take a quote that has existed throughout time and adds an interpretation to it. We challenge our audience to do the same. Please check the example of HVMAN [Interpretations] below:
HVMAN [Interpretations] 011
“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” – George Bernard Shaw
In life, we spend a lot of time trying to find out who we are and what our purpose is. One reason why certain people don’t fit social norms is that at one point or another they decided to build themselves into the person they wanted to become. When you put forth the effort to take control of how the world’s programming and influences impact you, you can begin to reinvent yourself. If don’t know who you are, create the person you wish to become.
4. HVMAN [Reach] is a program for the disadvantaged in several communities around the world. We will be devoting a percentage of our online store sales to this venture alongside us accepting donations to accomplish to begin giving away food, toiletries, and clothing to those in need around the world.
I think one thing that sets HVMAN apart from other platforms/brands is the multitude of ways that you can get involved with our brand to bring about positive change. I am proud of the fact that HVMAN unites people in a world that seems to thrive off division.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I remember about two or three years ago. I got into an accident where I injured my arm. Before the accident, I had made arrangements to vend at an event in Brooklyn, New York. Knowing that we humans have the willpower to overcome almost any circumstance, I decided to push forward and vend at the event in Brooklyn. I boarded the bus to New York on a Thursday evening and arrived in New York on a Friday morning with three bags on one arm. When I arrived in New York my best friend met me at the bus station to assist me with my bags. I went to the event, set up a table, and folded the clothes all with one hand. The next day, my friend and I shot a commercial for The Ghost Project, in 20 to 40-degree weather, I had to constantly take off my cast so it didn’t appear in any of the shots. Since I hadn’t been to New York for years the weather was slightly brutal to me. I also had to memorize a script on the fly which presented its complications. During this time my best friend stayed at a shack that his job used to manage a park he worked at, that was by the river, so you can imagine how cold it was there. In the end, though it came with its complications due to me having one arm to operate with and enduring the cold weather with almost nowhere to go, I made great connections, shot a commercial with my best for my company, and made some money!
If you put it in your mind that you can endure whatever comes your way, you will!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I’ve had to unlearn, and that I constantly remind myself is money is not evil, how you use money can be evil, but money itself is not. I’m sure everyone has heard the phrase that money is the root of all evil. One day I was speaking with a friend and he pointed out that money is not the root of all evil, by setting an example of how a gun doesn’t get up and shoot people it takes the hand of a human to shoot the gun. The same goes for money, money is an object that can be used for good or bad it is all up to the human wielding the tool of money and what they choose to do with it.
