We recently connected with Troy Gathers and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Troy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?
The innovative businesses that thrive in today’s society with massive successes are usually tied to a last name. Family businesses have somewhat always served as a driving force in American business. From my personal experiences and from those I have closely studied, the lone entrepreneurs experiences unwarranted difficulties due to lack of access to resources. When a family sets their eyes on a goal, there’s power in numbers. Personally, I would have loved to start a family business and grow as a unit, but entrepreneurship is not for everyone. In business, there are a number of skill sets and responsibilities that must be considered before you embark on that path. I clearly remember in high school economics class, the textbook reading 95% of small businesses fail in the first 5 years. This wasn’t the most motivating lesson to learn but one to ponder on. In business, it’s best to join in with others.
Troy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
You must change your ideals and values if you find yourself fighting the same battles year after year.
Troy Gathers, Take Me With You
In the year 2015, I published my first book project; Take Me With You. Since the release of this project, It’s been life changing. I’ve fallen back in love with writing all over again. The undeniable obsession for inspiring others is nothing new here on my journey. Growing up, I developed a passion for writing early on and even won various competitions throughout grade school. Also, in high school, I was selected by my English teacher as a writer for the newspaper staff. Moments like these kept writing close to me no matter where life would take me. Since the release of Take Me With You, I’ve published 8 additional book titles that all serve as inspiration or educational. B.E. Y.O.U PUBLISHING is the name of my publishing company and is an acronym for Believe in and Educate the Youth of the United States. The goal will always be to serve the youth, because the youth is the future. When I create a book project, I ask myself two questions:
What will people walk away with?
Am I making others better?
On this journey we call life, we must always make sure that we enjoy it but most importantly, we must ensure that we are contributing to the solution and not the problem.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Social Media is the most important source for customer retention and loyalty. If you are consistent on social media, a satisfied customer is likely to stay in touch with your company.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I believe that NFTs are the wave of the future. The way we exchange currency is changing, and the NFT was one of the newest trends to test the compliance of the virtual consumer. In the near future, I expect more publicizing of NFT platforms as well as more entertainers, athletes and influencers developing NFTs for sale. I expect NFTs to create over night millionaires in the future.
