We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Troy Ganser. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Troy below.
Troy, appreciate you joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I am truly “living the dream.” I’ve known what I wanted to be “when I grow up” since I was 7 years old. A key to success (as I define it, and everyone must define for themselves) is tenacity. Determine what you want to do and stay focused on making progress – not perfection, but baby steps.
Troy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am the Director of the T.A.G. Art Company. We’re primarily involved in family-friendly entertainment, though we have service options in traditional fine arts such as portraiture and murals.
At TAG Art Company, we think everyone could use a little bit of wonder in their lives. We create immersive entertainment experiences that invite you to journey into your sense of awe.
We’ve grown organically over the last 24 years from customer needs. The focus on “bringing the fun” has helped us diversify into over 30 different service options, which tends to be a major market differentiator.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Providing a good experience for clients and guests is our primary goal. It may result in a “less is more” or even remove us from an opportunity, but we want to work with a clear conscience and protect our corporate values. We’re arranged to provide an experience, not focused on the monetary aspect of the work.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The sense of wonder is my motivator. If we can counter or stave off cynicism – especially in children – then we are being a change we need to see in the world.
