We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Troy Bravo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Troy below.
Troy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
In my years of adolescence I remember engaging in an altercation with another boy and undoubtedly, I was punished. I had most of my possessions removed as a result, and all that was left in my room stood an instrument. The fiery white Ibanez that became the object of my new found desire. The instrument of my passion, a white rose 6 stringed guitar. Ever since that day, I knew I had to make an impact and a statement for the world to hear.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born Troy E. Bravo, under the sign of the Gemini, to the parents of Eduardo & Jo-Ann Bravo. Raised in a humble middle class family. I am the songwriter, guitarist, and producer for the Hard Rock band, ‘Madam Riøt’. Starting from the inception of my musical career, I had always sought out to have a voice in such a tough world. In my later teenage years, I formed Madam Riøt with the intention of articulating my personal life stories. Each and every song I write expresses a moment or time in my life. I see music should be more than an artistic piece, but an inside look of the writers life.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Especially nowadays, being an artist of any kind is extremely discouraging and difficult. There are so many great artists out there with fans that would do anything to get a sliver of attention. I think what hurts the music industry the most as a whole, is the fact that so many music lovers and followers would jump to extreme lengths for an artist who has no clue of their existence. Although, when a close friend or someone who resides within their town is beginning to engage in something far greater than anyone could foresee, they are regarded as obsolete and are never believed in. My advice to anyone who is starting out, don’t listen to the hate, hear it, but never listen. There’s only one correct way to do things, and that’s your way. Stay true to yourself.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The greatest feeling of being a musician is being able to reach the fans hearts. Hearing the screams and applause before even stepping foot on the stage will change a person. Being able to convey emotions where words don’t suffice, is what I live for. I’ve been blessed with a talent and to disregard and neglect it would be an atrocity
