Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Trizia Vargas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Trizia , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I’ve taken to date was choosing to go on a completely new path and follow my passion for nail art instead of the path I had been on for a long time that lead to me being a pharmacist. I’ve always done extremely well academically and was finishing up my associates in biology and on my way to enroll in pharmacy school when nail art came into the picture. Nail Art started out as something that I did just for myself and evolved into a skill that not only made me happy but i was able to monetize. The freedom having my own business has given me means everything to me, as a mom it means I can completely structure my work life around my kids and not the other way around. Creating for a living is a blessing and the sky is the limit to where I want to go with my craft.
Trizia , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Fancyfingerz and I am a nail artist based out of Houston specializing in ultra detailed wearable works of Art. I don’t do nails, I create wearable art. With over 9 years of experience under my belt I am best known for my Kawaii 3D Art, hand drawn Kawaii art or anime, and Japanese style nail art. Apart from creating custom nail art sets for in person clients I also do editorial work, provide my art in the form of press ons, individual charms, and I am an educator for my industry. When you come to me it’s a fun collaborative experience. Client gives me their theme or color scheme, preferred nail shape, preferred length, and budget and I create a set customized just for you.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
That any one can learn anything and we’re all far more capable than we may give ourselves credit for. If you would’ve told me 15 years ago that I would be making a living as an artist I would have looked at you crazy, considering stick figures were my art level. Give yourself room to grow, no one starts off a professional. It’s amazing how far perseverance will take you when you pair it with consistency. Follow the things that make you happy , you never know what they could lead to.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
There are so many wonderful aspects of being an artist. The brain is a muscle and I get to work mine out everyday while I work. I truly enjoy the feeling of creating something out of nothing, alchemy. In my own world I’m a magical girl creating cuteness on the daily. The connections I’ve gotten to make with clients are beyond rewarding, over the years some of my clients became my closest friends. Hard to hold hands for hours and not bond. All this and I make my own schedule and work at my leisure- I typically see one client per day.
