We recently connected with Trivelle Gambrell and have shared our conversation below.
Trivelle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
In March of 2020 I told my friend and now my co-host (Mz_Gogetta) that I wanted to start a podcast. Not knowing anything about it, how it was going to be done and or who would be part of it.. After praying and asking God as to how I should move forward. Less than a month later Wait A Gam Minute Podcast aired April 15, 2020 on Facebook(LIVE). Wait A Gam Minute Podcast started out in the family room at the house, using a friend building space for free to now being blessed with our own studio.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
WAGM has been a positive brand/business for the last two years. We have unapologetic and unfiltered but necessary conversations weekly about topics that people may not care to talk about outside of the home. Gam & Mz_ Gogetta talk about everyday issues that effect communities around the world. WAGM believes in having these tuff conversations as this will empower, uplifting and encourage the listeners. Mz_Gogetta states that she is the “unfiltered” member of the podcast because she believes that you should say what’s on your mind and not second guess yourself”. Gam states that “when talking to guest who have been through something’s in life and as they share their story it will inspire the listeners to realize that they can get through whatever”. 2021 Wait A Gam Minute Podcast was awarded Podcast of the Year for EBNY TV, April 2022 Wait A Gam Minute Podcast was awarded the media/news award from Suffolk NAACP. August 2022 WAGM was nominated in ACHI Magazine Awards for Podcast of the Year, Excellence in Journalism and Radio Personality of the Year. WAGM is very active in the community in Suffolk, Va.
WAGM podcast is something that can’t be explained only experienced. The show is a interview/talk show vibe as the guest are so comfortable that they let their guards down and become excited and share more than they had originally planned. WAGM feels that they can talk to the homeless person on the corner to the Barack Obama.
The key for us is to remain consistent and focused as everything will be added unto us in due time.
Gam states that from learning early on that it doesn’t work her way so therefore; she had to give WAGM back to the one who gave her the gift and that is God to allow him to do what he does best.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Starting out doing the pandemic was kinda easy to say the least. During this time everyone was home and on social media. Being consistent is key and especially with social media as to pushing the algorithm in your favor. Talk about and create things that really interest you. Pursue your passion and I promise you that your days will be less stressful. Keep pushing and remain consistent.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Early on from the start of our podcast I saw it changing from how we originally started. I because very nervous and I didn’t know how things was going to go for us. Whenever i became not comfortable is when God kept moving things forward for our podcast. I learned that things are not always going to go according to my plans but if I continue to trust and stay in alignment with God everything will be alright. Trust the process
