We recently connected with Tristin Llewellyn and have shared our conversation below.
Tristin, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
Postpartum is one of the biggest bumps in a mother’s fitness journey. We have helped many women over come these challenges, but one of our client sticks out in particular. Pat was a former high end high school athlete that choose a path to medicine. Pat is a busy mom with high expectations of herself, even though she thought hr better years were all behind her. She works at a major hospital in metro Detroit, while her husband is following the same path in his third year post undergrad. They welcomed their second child to this world in the dark parts of winter. Now with two beautiful daughters under the age of 4, a new house, a husband in school, a sister’s wedding and a full time job at the hospital, how was she to find time to stay in shape? This is where L4 EMS Training was able to fill the gap.
The hardest part was changing her habits that crept in over the years. We had to wait six weeks for safety reasons after she gave birth at the exact hospital she works at. Twice a week for 30 minutes of her busy day she got to get her strength training in at her house during nap time. After a few weeks, we were able to change her exercise habits, but weren’t seeing the results we wanted quickly enough. This was her breaking point. She was ready to commit to a full overhaul.
Those first three weeks of changing her diet, increasing sleep, and finding alternatives for exercise with her family were a battle that she woke up each morning determined to make her not only look better, but feel better. After another month of work, she was ready for her annual girls trip to Europe. We knew this trip was the final nail in the coffin in her transformation to a better life by the comment she kept repeating, “just because you are getting all the looks, doesn’t mean you get to force us to be as active.” She was getting fitter by the day and feeling better physically every day, but the biggest gain was her confidence was back.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
L4 EMS Training is a personal training company. We use electricity to help activate more muscles during physical exercise than what you’re capable of on your own. A 20 minutes session of strength training is equivalent to 3 hours of strength training in the gym, while being safer for the joints and increasing typical exercise benefits. We offer mobile and studio services.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Things happen in a mysterious ways. After a lifetime in hockey, my professional career ended with a back injury. The first couple years after retirement I was able to stay involved in the game, but was hampered with the long road to recovery for a spinal fusion. My wife and partner was the rock to push me into the personal training industry. I have always liked helping people and have been advocate for being active. Starting a company to compete in an industry that is full of snake oil and major corporations was a journey I was not completely ready for. I had to pivot from working with kids, sport specific training, and having to run a business with little to no experience outside of summer college work.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We interact with people on a personal level to help them get to the place they want in person. Now if that only provided more clients. We keep in touch with our clients through social media and cell phone messaging, because we want them to take ownership in the brand and promote by the results. Once people are invested, they can’t stop talking about us. They recommend everyone they know, because it is quite the revelation.
