Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tristan Peach. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tristan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Its the little ones that save you. I was 7 years deep into my L.A. journey with really nothing to show for it except a hardened exterior and too many frustrations to count. Happenstance and nightlife had recently aligned to help me meet the friend and confidant that would save my artistic life at the time. He was working with pop stars on music videos and I was…not. So, he trusted me enough to act, write, storyboard and just HELP PRODUCE a story to the point of the audience being able to experience it.
Brad (our stories savior and my director) trusted me to join the crew above and below the line on a number of music videos and short films but our trio of work with the musical artist Ollie Wride were the projects that meant the most to me.
It gave me an outlet, life long friends, purpose, artistic respect and trust, and most importantly, it gave me the sense of family that I had been missing so badly.
The Driver, Back To Life and I’m A Believer are more than just cool mini-stories accompanied and supporting some amazing, catchy pop music (you should go listen to now), to me they’re a stream of light in a cave. They’re the fresh water spring in the middle of the desert. It’s life saving kind of filmmaking.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello! I’m Tristan and I have always done this kind of stuff; act, draw, write, create. I can’t remember NOT doing it. I think my first audience member was in the third or fourth grade; risking a joke to a physically bigger kid who not only laughs but becomes a friend and it was all over. Soon the whole class, whether on the playground or not was my captive audience and I haven’t looked back.
I’ve been an actor since I was 8 and now I’ve done a little bit of everything. Writing, storyboards, production, assistant camera, Whatever it takes to make the story come to life.
Filmmaking is nothing but problem solving. Human imagination is for lack of a better word; insane, and to bring those ideas to life and I mean LIFE, is even crazier. So that’s what I try to do.
Here’s all you need to know about me and the stories I tell and the untold stories coming, I imagine what I’d like to seem, I want to inspire the way storytellers inspired me. Simple as that.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I mean, proof of life is my illustration. The fact that I’m even continuing to tell stories three thousand miles away from the “mecca” of my chosen art form. The fact that every ounce of failure has made me a better artist. Thank God I’ve “failed.” I shudder to think who I would be if my perceived hard work at the time allowed me to have every dream I’ve ever had. That multiverse is something that can stay right where it is.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think about how art and culture collide, how they impact each other and all the trends and surprises that come with it. I think the only thing that people can and should do is experiment and give a chance to new and awesome artists in the art form you like. Hell, spend money on a film you think you would NEVER love because you might just find your new favorite artist and their art may just save your life.
Piracy is a weakness and convenance kills. You think because it streams right to you or is exhibited on your phone in 124 different thirty second parts on Tik Tok doesn’t mean you’re experiencing anything but empty calories. Go to the theater, go to the concert hall, go to the comedy club and spend money knowing you may not really enjoy the art you’re seeing but trust me, even if it only happens once the artist and art form you find that understands your soul makes it all worth it.
