We recently connected with Triolens Photography Seattle and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Triolens Photography, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
We are moms of two or three kids, and we are also photographers based in the Seattle area. Initially, we learned photography to better capture our own children. As more people started to appreciate our work, we each registered as photographers and began taking client photos from our home studios. However, we realized that running home studios was inconvenient, and since we are close friends who occasionally collaborate on projects, we decided to open a professional photography studio together in a business center. This allows us to serve more clients and offer more professional services. Because this studio was founded by the three of us, we named it Triolens Photography Studio.

Triolens Photography, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
About Us:
We are a team of three photographer moms, each with two or three kids, based in the Seattle area. Our journey into photography began as a way to capture the fleeting moments of our own children’s lives. What started as a personal passion quickly turned into something more as others began to notice and appreciate our work. This encouragement led each of us to register as individual photographers, taking on clients and setting up home studios to better serve our growing customer base.
Our Services:
At Triolens Photography Studio, we specialize in capturing the essence of people’s memories, including maternity, newborn, family, children, couples, and special moments. We offer a wide range of services, from individual and family portraits to child photography, maternity sessions, couple and engagement shoots, and more. Our goal is to create images that not only freeze a moment in time but also tell a story—your story.
What Sets Us Apart:
What truly sets us apart is our unique perspective as both moms and photographers. We understand the importance of preserving memories, and we bring that personal touch to every session. Our experience as mothers gives us a special connection with children, allowing us to capture their true personalities in a natural and relaxed setting. Additionally, the bond between the three of us as close friends and collaborators adds a layer of creativity and support that shines through in our work.
Challenges We Solve:
We know how challenging it can be to find a photographer who not only takes great photos but also makes the experience enjoyable and stress-free—especially when young children are involved. We pride ourselves on creating a warm, welcoming environment where families can feel comfortable and be themselves. Our goal is to take the stress out of family photography so that you can focus on enjoying the moment.
What We’re Most Proud Of:
We’re incredibly proud of the journey we’ve taken together—from shooting in our homes to opening Triolens Photography Studio. It’s been an amazing experience to grow our business while staying true to our roots. We’re also proud of the trust our clients place in us to capture their most precious moments. Seeing their joy when they receive their photos is what drives us to keep doing what we love.
What We Want You to Know:
At Triolens Photography Studio, we believe that every family has a unique story, and we’re here to help you tell it through beautiful, timeless photography. Whether you’re looking for a simple portrait session or something more elaborate, we’re committed to delivering images that you’ll cherish for years to come. We’re not just photographers; we’re storytellers who want to capture the essence of your family in a way that’s authentic and meaningful.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Equality:
We believe in equality, where every team member is considered an owner of the studio. This sense of ownership fosters responsibility and pride in our work, ensuring that everyone is equally invested in the studio’s success.
Trust:
Trusting each other is key. We approach one another with sincerity and make sure any issues or ideas are discussed openly and promptly. This creates a trusting environment where everyone feels valued and heard.
Collaborative Creativity:
We collaborate on designing our photography concepts, constantly innovating to bring fresh ideas to our clients. Whether it’s a Christmas shoot, a Chinese New Year theme, or creative portraits for newborns and sports enthusiasts, we continuously strive to surprise our clients with something new.
Leveraging Individual Strengths:
We play to each team member’s strengths. Photographer Lin excels in accounting and takes on the role of studio accountant. Photographer Lulu is a master planner, coordinating and overseeing the progress of studio projects. Photographer Rui brings her talent in crafts and creativity, leading the design and setup of props and creative elements. By utilizing our individual strengths, we ensure that every aspect of the studio is managed with expertise and care.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
At the start of Triolens Photography Studio, we faced a challenge: we had no clients and limited sample work. To address this, we organized mini sessions for maternity and newborn photography, hoping to build our portfolio and attract new clients. Despite our intention to offer value, the pricing for these mini sessions was the same as for our full sessions.
This approach led to some dissatisfaction among our previous clients, who felt that the value of their original full sessions was being undermined by the mini sessions.
In response, we quickly adapted our strategy. We revised our pricing structure to introduce clearer distinctions between different types of sessions. We added new options to our price list, including basic and deluxe packages, giving clients more choices and better reflecting the value of each service. This adjustment helped us better align our offerings with client expectations and improved our overall service.
By making these changes, we were able to attract new clients while maintaining the trust and satisfaction of our existing ones, ultimately strengthening our business and refining our brand.
