We recently connected with Trinity Stenton and have shared our conversation below.
Trinity, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue a life as a singer/song writer was when I created my first song. I was 16 years old and began to write lyrics and piano accompaniment with a song called I’m Standing. The song provides a perspective of fear and hope. The struggles that we so often have as individuals can consume our daily lives. At some point, we find ourselves questioning the meaning of life. I’m Standing is an exploration of vulnerability and compassion. I was able to work with some fantastic producers at a great studio to create this song. I introduced the song to my family and friends. As I listened, I discovered my creative path. I have now written over twenty songs. I released a total of six singles for all streaming platforms. I learned how to write and compose songs with my own signature style that fully encompasses my heart and passion.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I began performing at the age of five at local talent shows and events. I enjoy being on stage and performing because it is a place to express myself and be authentic. I started voice lessons around seven years old, training classically. At age eleven my training transitioned into pop and contemporary style. At sixteen I began my singer/song writer career. I began writing lyrics and piano accompaniment. When I create music, I express my heart and mind. The powerful thing about music is that it can provide creative growth and self-awareness. It lets you express your feelings and thoughts in a beautiful form of art. Creating music is very therapeutic and there is a healing transcendence. The musical composition and style signature of my music is what I call “pop-drama.” My music touches on my own personal struggles. I create music to find connection and understanding. This brings me joy. I use music as a tool to find relations and understand more about creative expression. I am involved in community and charitable service, and I wish to bring more music to these organizations. In the future I hope to make my music platform something bigger than a small group of music lovers. I would support non-profit organizations who provide mental health support, or care for women and children who are trafficking victims. As I reflect on my own unique experiences, I recognize the transformative potential of my art. As an artist, I create music for people to enjoy and relate. Each music composition I create is woven together with my own personal experiences. I am honored when my listeners enjoy it.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative or artist for me lies in my heartfelt ability to express my inner thoughts and emotions through music. Music serves as a powerful tool for connection. Each finished song represents a culmination of my creative process and my stories. Through my musical journey, I find a connection with others who resonate with similar experiences. The joy of connecting with fans, peers, and colleagues who find meaning and peace in my music is so rewarding. The opportunity to share my artistic expression and spark emotions in others brings me immense happiness. Music inspires me to variety. I love cultural diversity and I am applying more of my Latin American heritage to new releases. I wish to express my love for all communities.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
My hardest lesson sparked my creativity as a music artist. For some time, I believed that there was something wrong with me because I didn’t look or act the same way as the world around me. Social media and environments told me to do my best to conform. I spent time acting like someone I am not, and I lost myself. School was a constant battle. My strong and unique personality clashed with conventional norms. It wasn’t until I began a journey embraced with music that I unraveled the truth. Acceptance doesn’t originate from external sources. True self-acceptance blossoms from within, from acknowledging and cherishing one’s unique traits and talents. I had to learn that society’s expectations can shape our perceptions of self-worth, but they don’t define it. My individuality is what makes me meaningful.
