We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Trina Perryman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Trina , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Picture it, Redford, 20………I kid, I kid, LOL…kinda. ReeceWorld of Michigan came about out of frustration. As a mother of a special needs child, I struggled finding programs and professionals that understood the life of special needs parents/caregivers. I was looking for therapists, life insurance agents, real estate agents, contractors, life coaches, that would be able to relate on a different level. I saw a piece of wall art that said “Create the things you wish existed” so here we are. The mission of ReeceWorld of Michigan is to provide support, resources, and relief to parents/caregivers of special needs children. The long term goal of ReeceWorld of Michigan is to have respite care homes, a home near the water, a home in a central location in the Metro Detroit Area, a home in the Grand Rapids area, and some homes in the Upper Peninsula. The homes will be a fun place for people with special needs and oasis for the parents/caregivers. Parents/Caregivers will be able to drop their child off and enjoy the amenities or leave for a few hours. I am hoping that parents/caregivers will also be to utilize this time to go after their dreams. Are you seeing the vision? If parents/caregivers have time for themselves and they know that their children are being well cared for then we have parents/caregivers who are therapists, life coaches, teachers, lawyers, etc.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Gifted with many abilities, some of my roles include Author, Mobile Notary, Certified Life Coach and Dancer. With a nurturing, free-spirit I am a woman who is full of life. I attended Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Mi and obtained my bachelor’s degree from Siena Heights University. My dance journey started in my mother’s living room in the 1980s. Since then, I have danced on many wood floors across the nation. The cities in which I have graced the dance floor include Vegas, Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland and Miami. I have competed in Detroit and Chicago, winning first and second place trophies in Chicago Style Steppin. I enjoy many styles of dance from burlesque to ballroom to hip hop and jazz.
Throughout my life’s journey two things have constantly stayed on my heart, dancing and the special needs community. We (my daughter and I) self published our first book “Confessions of a Special Needs Mom: Reece & Me” in 2021. Since then we have published a self help coloring book “The World Through Reece’s Eyes: Introducing the ReeceWorld Bear Initiative”, a confessions journal, and a medical journal. That lead to a safety initiative for the special needs community.
The purpose of the ReeceWorld Bear Initiative® is to have a universal symbol that creates awareness. The goal is ensuring law enforcement, first responders, and fire fighters are aware there is a special needs person in the home. ReeceWorld Bear gives the voiceless a voice. The ReeceWorld Bear decal should be placed on the front door and/or on the windows of the bedroom where the special needs person resides. It can also be placed on the window of your vehicle. We also recommend putting a decal under the knob on the bedroom door where the special needs person resides. Stakes for the yard will be available soon.
The initiative lead to the creation of the ME time for Mom program. There are different layers to the program from group coaching to getting a ME time blueprint.
We also have some other things in the works that we will be announcing soon. We want to help special needs parents/caregivers worry less. We aim to provide them with what they need to make sure they children are good so they will then focus on themselves.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When you look up resilience in the dictionary, let me rephrase that, when you look up resilience on Google (LOL), there should be pictures of special needs parents/caregivers. We live minute by minute. One minute we could watching Annie, the next minute we could headed to the emergency or talking our child through a seizure, and the next minute we are back to watching Annie. The term life can change in a blink of a eye has a different meaning for us. If we allowed those moments to knock us out of our square, we wouldn’t have an opportunity to enjoy the smiles and laughs.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
The Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki series help me to understand the importance of entrepreneurship and having a good CPA. Identity Switch by April Mason help me to understand the power in being healed and operating in your femininity while doing business.
