We recently connected with Trina Hannah and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Trina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
A big risk that I took was when I decided to quit what I loved doing most in the whole world, which was gymnastics. But when I was 14 I got into a really bad car accident that broke my ribs. That took me out of gymnastics for a few months. Which once you are out for a bit it is really hard to get back to where you were. I was trying to get to the level to where I could compete in college, so I had a really hard time catching up. Eventually it was just getting so mentally taxing on me that I had to make the hard decision to quit. I had to learn who I was outisde of gymnastics, because from 9-14 years old that was all I really knew about myself. But then when covid happened I started taking online dance classes in my basement because I was bored. Which when I was applying for College in 2019-2020 I actually got recruited for dancing from my TikTok. And now I am a Junior at Siena Heights University on the dance team, and I am so grateful that I got the chance to still do something I love just in a different way. It all worked out for me in the end, even though it wasn’t gymnastics in college I still do dance where I can occasianally also flip which is fun!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey! I’m Trina Hannah. I am 20 years old from Michigan and I currently am a Junior Design major and Psych minor at Siena Heights University. I am on the Esports team as a manager and Head of Twitter, on the dance team, and I work for the school’s Marketing department where I do the Youtube channel. I started content creating and dance in 2020. And since then they have both opened up so many oppurtunities for me, such as jobs, internships, and even friends. My content and life motto is all about just living basically. People tend to take life too seriously, when we all have such limited time here. So make the memories, text your crush, compliment that girls outfit. Becacuse also you never know what impact you can leave on someone else. I just want anyone who comes across my social media to feel welcomed, safe, and like they can relate. Because sometimes people don’t have a safe space, and I would like to be that for them. Such as this summer I started going live on Tiktok everyday and I built an amazing community of people through doing that!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part is knowing how many people’s lives you can impact. For example people tell me that I made their day, and for me that is worth more than any amount of money I could make.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think something people don’t always realize is the mental pressure that it can have on you. For example, there can be a lot of pressure to post everyday, even when you are sick or just having an off day. For me personally, this stresses me out and makes me feel like I am letting people down. Especially when content creating is not my main thing. I am balancing being an athlete, a writer, student, manager, and the other things I do. People just don’t always realize the pressure and expectations that come along with it.
