We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Trilisa Collier a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Trilisa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?

I started mentoring young girls years ago by starting a mentoring while working in a school setting, making sure that my girls in the group succeeded in graduating high school. Having tough conversations with them on life issues. All of my girls have graduated and are now young adults. I follow them to make sure that they are staying on the right path and assist them in any life struggles they may encounter to the best of my ability still having those tough conversations with them. I knew once I assisted these young ladies I knew this endeavor was well worth my time and effort. Funding has been an issue on continuing my mentorship within the school system and branching off to a off campus facility to be able to help more young ladies. Until I receive funding I plan to do a podcast to assist with helping young women who need to talk and discuss life’s challenges.

Trilisa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Trilisa and I started mentoring young girls who were struggling to succeed in school because of peer pressure, low self esteem, those who continued to get into trouble, those who had relationship issues and those who were on the verge of dropping out.

I started having one on one sessions with young ladies and then the idea to start my mentorship to be able to service more young ladies on a bigger platform.

I am very pleased at the outcome that all of my young ladies are doing well after completing high school. Most went to college and some went into the workforce. Some of my young ladies are now parents and I am very proud of the young women that they have become to be able to help me mentor other young women.

I am hoping that someone reads this and can help me with my vision to with funding so that I can be able to carry out this vision and mission of assisting more young women in staying on the right path of becoming successful young women and positive role models in their communities.

What sets me apart from others is I lived this life of struggles which really assisted me in knowing how to assist my members with the many challenges that we were facing.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My goal and mission is to continue the journey that I started inspiring young girls and ladies to stay focused no matter what their background and struggles are. We are better than our past if we just stay focused and on our path. We can overcome anything that life throws our way. Each One Reach One To Teach One. The mission and goal is to help as many girls and young women succeed in life by sharing my journey and helping them with theirs.
