We were lucky to catch up with Trezana Renae recently and have shared our conversation below.
Trezana , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with what makes profitability in your industry a challenge – what would you say is the biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge to profitability in the industry that I’m in is that instead of women coming together collectively, other women are viewed as competition so you’ll find that they are trying to capitalize on areas that they don’t have expertise in just to be able to say that they’re successful and in turn we begin to lose credibility and the consumers begin to decline or not invest in the services for fear of being ripped off.
An illustration of this is maybe a woman who is learning to heal from brokenness but not yet there, decides to host workshops etc regarding this topic and end up short changing the audience because there hasn’t been enough practice in this area or real healing in their own lives so women don’t see transformation because they leave with information but not practical tools that are acquired through the instructors life experiences.
So we all suffer. There’s still hope though. It takes you being consistent and your brand being fortified in what it stands for and over time woke will see and gravitate towards your services.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a minister by calling and a certified women’s developmental coach by trade. I’ve been in ministry for almost 10 years now and coaching for almost 5 years.
I came into this industry to create a space to be for women what I didn’t have but needed. I don’t believe in gate keeping so the goal is to always help other women learn vicariously opposed to having to learn everything through experience. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that life is a great teacher but sometimes the time that it takes to learn something can be shortened if there’s someone who have gone ahead of us in that area and could teach us.
I offer courses through my online academy as well as both one on one and group coaching sessions. I also host annually, women events that both educate and aid in their healing journey.
I have become the answer to women who struggle with finding their way spiritually and as women in leadership attempting to find harmony between each hat that they wear.
I feel what sets me apart from others in this industry is that I do everything from what I believe is the heart of God. I don’t believe in doing anything for anyone without excellence. I give everything within me to each woman I connect wit and every event etc that I take part in. I’m not greater than any one but I am very confident that God have equipped me to do great and mighty things. That’s where my heart to do what I do comes from. That I believe makes me just a little different from others.
I am most proud of the community of women that I’m building as I get to see women connect with one another and find their tribe.
I pride myself in that I know I’ve been endowed with supernatural gifts of wisdom, knowledge, discernment and more that are for serving the world around me.
What I want the readers to know about me is that what I do isn’t a job for me it’s a privilege to be able to serve the women that I do and I promise to always try to be a safe and soft landing spot.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe what helped me build my reputation was and is my transparency, vulnerability, authenticity and integrity.
I post how I speak and I walk out what I talk and life has an interesting way of revealing whether or not you really do. I think that I’ve allowed people to see my humanity, where I fall short but also my purity of spirit. That I believe helps other understand that we as humans are not aiming to become perfect but to become better and better with time and the we can be in high places and still wrestle with things. It’s really all bout how we respond to life’s circumstances and people. The world is always watching and I’ve been mindful of that. I initially had the attitude that “I don’t care about what others think of me” but I had to learn that I should because that determines whether or not people would choose to do business with me or trust me. This could easily turn into people pleasing so we have to be careful but my aim is just to be a decent human because it’s just the right thing to do.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There was a time in my journey where I was preparing to host the biggest event that I had ever hosted in my tenure and a couple of weeks before the event, my god sister died in a tragic car accident! It knocked the breath from me. I had decided that I was going to have to refund the people back and call of the event. There was no way that I could host after such a tragedy. I was sick to my stomach. I was shattered and with a broken heart I was expected to host an event centered around healed hearts. How would that work?! I was upset with God, I surely felt that He had made a mistake by allowing the accident to happen. I eventually came to the end of myself and decided that there were hearts that needed healing and in my brokenness it would give other women permission to be broken and still show up vulnerably as that was depicted on the stage as I spoke and broke down in front of the audience. That left room for me to be comforted by other women, the healing that I myself would need. I lived out in real time what I came to teach. I found out just how resilient I was in that moment.
