We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Trey Jabari. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Trey below.
Hi Trey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I was younger I got into writing poetry since that was the best way to expressing my feelings. Lady Gaga was an artist I admired back then. I learned her dance moves from her music videos and songs and tried to learn a lot about her like any huge fan would. So having a bit of inspiration from Gaga. At a young age I think I was around 13 when I wrote my first two songs which sucks. Fast forward to 2022 I started to think more about getting back into writing again. So I came across beat stars and listened to a track produced by Ryini Beats and I wrote what I call my true song. The song is called “Let You Go”. From there I started writing more songs and I came across an artist that inspired me to want to do more. Suh The Scholar something about the way she rapped and the energy at the Cypher is the place of the temple. I wanted to do more and I started to think about creating my own music but never thought I’d actually produce. In 2023 I finally moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to check out the cypher after getting an invitation. I checked out the flow and to see how the energy was and one night I started to play freely with my clarinet to a song I never heard and you couldn’t tell that it wasn’t apart of the song and that’s when I knew for sure. Becoming a music producer was my passion and a career I wanted to take on. So from there I decided to enroll in Full Sail University to learn more about producing music. Also my chance to actually finish school but this would be for a dream reality I wanted. Now I just try to find new artist to work with and just create music also while I produce for my own albums I’ll have released in the future. I love music and enjoy the feeling so why not make it a career to share how music makes me feel and to express myself through my music.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Trey Jabari. Stage and production name TheMix444. I’m a new artist and producer who is inspired by music. It all started with poetry at a young age as many artist start off by writing poetry young. Poetry was my only escape from reality and the way I knew how to actually express what I was feeling. Later on at age 26 I started writing songs and I wanted to do more than just write lyrics. I’m teaching myself to become a better singer so I can sing and perform my own songs when I start performing. In 2023 I finally got my studio equipment from Full Sail University. I enrolled in Full Sail because I had a true passion in wanting to play more instruments and truly producing my own music. Once I got the studio equipment I started experimenting with sound trap and creating music using loops with already created sounds. Later on that year I took what I released down so I can teach myself how to play instruments and getting better with mixing on my own and using my creativity with my own hands. I have a few new music released using my own creativity and using some tips that I learned from Full Sail. I’m working more with another music producer Kyle Countuh with a album we’re working on “Timeless Clocks”. Continuing to produce music and getting myself out my own comfort zone is a mission I want to accomplish. In time I plan to start performing and playing my work on stage. Right now I’m just working on being heard and getting more creative with my sound. I like being unique so I try to create experimental music.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I believe society can become more open to newness of what music is. Saying how we feel and think about what music is and appreciating the way it moves spiritually. When I create music I want it to be healing and be something many can relate as to why any artist makes music. At least how music used to be. Some artists create for an image and not to have their listeners experience the feelings that the artist is feeling. Music is about feeling I also produce instrumentals. I do so to bring back the sound of how the music feels without having lyrics to enjoy a song.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing about being a music artist and music producer is the creation. The ability to feel the creation through my hands and having it flowing through my body. I want to give my listeners that wow this is spiritually healing type feeling. Not I can for sure twerk, smoke, or feel drained spiritually type of feeling. I don’t want my music to be draining. I want someone to listen to my music and just feel nourished and spiritually fulfilled.
