We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Trevor Smith. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Trevor below.
Trevor, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Taking the risk into entrepreneurship is the largest risk I have ever taken. I always had an entrepreneur heart even at a young age thinking outside the box, finding new and improved ways of doing processes and projects. The risk I have taken over a year ago going full time into my small creative business Small Town Design Co. has been very rewarding but also comes with a ton of challenges. Taking the risk can be the best thing that has ever happen to you and your life. Take more risk and embrace failure as a learning tool to build from.

Trevor, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was always the creative kid in school that loved to doodle more than doing a math equation. I really enjoyed thinking outside the box, and art allowed me to do that in my own creative way. I launched Small Town Design Co. to help communities and businesses grow and develop by providing creative services such as graphic design, video/photo production, digital marketing, web services, print and signage. Im proud to offer services to my community and surrounding areas to help promote the growth of Southern Virginia and surrounding areas.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Marketing is not about what you do, it is about telling your story. Building your audience on social platforms is telling the story of your business or services. Your audience cares about what goes on inside your business and the stories that you tell. You can talk about your services you offer by explaining to your audience how and why the service was beneficial to your customer. Find fun and engaging ways for your audience to want to follow along with your story.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building your reputation is so important to your clients and future clients by provided top notch customer service. Being nice and honest is the number way to build a solid reputation especially in a small town. I truly care for the customer and the project because I take all jobs personal because it is important for me to see my work out and and about and to have my customer happy and proud to share the project to help grow my reputation.
