We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Trevor Armstrong. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Trevor below.
Alright, Trevor thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
It’s when I moved to Houston. The city found me and picked me up in a way. I was at a party in 3rd ward off Cullen and I’ve always freestyled for fun, but I got into a cypher with this rap artist Smashbro and it was different. I felt a positive impact that hit me in my soul. I found myself that night and realized it was time to do what really makes me happy, rapping. The amount of people that believe in me and how rap grabbed me, I’m lucky.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I dropped out of med school and decided I wanted to rap and tour with bands. I’ve been very fortunate to have inspiring artist that I can call friends. I had no expectations when I first moved to Houston, I guess you could say my intuition got me in. My brand is colorful and loud, I want to promote full transparency and be loud about who you are as a person. The brighter things are, the easier the dark stands out and you can burn that shit. I released 4 Tracks in 2022; 2023 I’m shooting music videos and dropping an EP early summer. I’m single with no kids, lets get to work.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Stop paying attention to influences that have no constructive meaning. Show respect to artists that work hard to provide art that completes you. The artist that make you feel good, give them your money. Support isn’t a word, it’s an action.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I love the fact that I can be transparent and feel appreciated. When someone claps for you in acknowledgement when you’re most exposed, it’s helps you be more confident and more appreciative of yourself.
