We recently connected with Tresa Chambers and have shared our conversation below.
Tresa, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Music. Amusement. Museum. At the heart of each of these words is the essence of creative inspiration. The muse. There are nine in Greek mythology that represent art, science and philosophy. Each of us embodies all these aspects of creative inspiration. I named Tenth Muse because I work with creative people to inspire them to call on their muses to grow their businesses. I chose Enterprises to reflect the range of endeavors I intend to pursue.
In addition to the name of my company, which is the parent brand, I have also looked to my own name to brand products I have created. I came up with Style Chambers for the fashion and art event brand I created. The Coach Chambers app is my latest offering. To me the name in these contexts suggests inclusiveness, intense focus and clear value to the customer. These offerings ladder up to the essence of Tenth Muse in that they serve creative entrepreneurs via live events and online — traditional and digital platforms to reach their target audience.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Tenth Muse Enterprises helps visionary entrepreneurs find and connect with their audiences, and scale their impact. We provide a platform and tailored solutions to amplify the strengths and accomplishments of corporate professionals seeking to launch, build and scale their businesses by getting comfortable with being in the role of CEO. Tenth Muse Enterprises convenes and collaborates with the most innovative multicultural entrepreneurs in diverse industries to create transformative change through a new generation of leaders in business and society.
As a marketing communications and branding professional with more than 25 years of experience, I have had the opportunity to work on high-level projects within companies in industries as diverse as media and publishing, fashion and beauty, higher education, technology and nonprofit. This work has not only given me exposure to these influential CEOs, but I have also been their voice. Creating executive communications, developing strategies and plans to amplify their influence both within the organization and publicly has given me a level of understanding the role of the CEO that others don’t get. CEOs are the ultimate influencers. They lead teams in the development of a business strategy and plan that can be executed. They develop partnerships that generate revenue for the company. They negotiate for the best outcomes. They drive understanding of the company brand and leverage these assets to negotiate deals. They influence industries through thought leadership. They hire and manage teams to execute on business operations that grow the business.
When I work with entrepreneurs who have left their corporate jobs to step out on their own, I find that they step into their new role as CEO doing the same corporate job they left. They make decisions based on the work they can do instead of thinking of the business of the company and their new role in it. They certainly bring their expertise, gifts and talents, but their work has now changed or is changing from being the doer to being the leader. That’s a different job. That’s a different way of thinking. That is a different approach to launching, building and scaling the business.
Our approach
No one succeeds in a vacuum, and no one has all of the answers. Tenth Muse Enterprises convenes diverse creative entrepreneurs to be inspired and turn inspiration into action in collaboration with their teams or with other entrepreneurs. We believe that with focus and clear goals, leaders can launch, build or scale growth from where they are in just 90 days.
90 Days to Next
What can you accomplish in just 90 days? You are aspiring to bring your book or product to market. You have already gotten started but you aren’t getting the results you want in sales or bookings. You are confused about how to get from where you are to where you want to be. You feel like you’ve hit a wall and you need strategies to keep going. Now is the time to make the courageous choice — because you are just ninety days from NEXT!
Business Strategy
Creative entrepreneurs may feel resistant to the idea of a formalized traditional business structure — and that’s OK. We will work with you to devise a strategy and plan that works for your business and personality. Whether you are new in business or established, we will work together to optimize your opportunities.
Brand and Content Strategy
I am a B2B marketer, author and inventor. What’s your brand story and what makes it unique? Whether you are an author or speaker seeking to promote your personal brand or you’re a business owner seeking to stand out in your industry, we will work together to define your brand identity, values and pillars, along with the look and feel that you want to represent you. We will then work on developing content that aligns with your goals and develop a plan to execute for great results.
Publishing Consultation
Traditional or self-publish? Do I need an author page? Do I have to be on social media? These questions and more will be addressed as we navigate the publishing process and work together to meet your writing and publishing goals. I have been on both sides of the author experience. For more than 20 years, I have successfully published articles for national media, contributed to blogs and other digital publications, produced a podcast and a radio program to build an audience, and I have worked with authors, publishers and content creators editing, marketing, branding and selling best-selling titles. I have also completed a master’s degree in Publishing Strategies.
I know the pain points and the opportunities across the industry, and my greatest desire is to help as many writers as possible fulfill their publishing dreams.
Annual Summit & Retreat
Brings coaching, education and wellness to an annual multi-day event culminating in a full day celebration and showcase of creative entrepreneurship that could only happen in Miami.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2014, I was laid off from my job. It was completely unexpected because I had not only done good work consistently, but I was working in tech and had recently had one of my ideas patented by the company. As a marketer, that was not necessarily how we contribute, but I believed I had shown my adaptability and unlimited abilities. I had become an inventor at a company that encouraged innovation at all levels and from all teams. So, when I was suddenly laid off, I was devastated. I found myself walking from my office in SoHo to Union Square in New York City on a crisp, clear February morning not knowing what to do. Even reflecting on that time now brings back the numbing darkness that began to cover my heart as I realized that I dedicated so much of my time and energy to helping to build something that wasn’t mine. I would love to say that I started my business and never looked back, but that’s not what happened. I grew up in a working class family with limited income and it had taken me a long time to learn to manage my money. I was still catching up, but I believed that I needed to get another job. I wasn’t ready to just step out on my own. I had just suffered a huge blow to my confidence and I just wasn’t sure what else to do. I decided to leave New York and head back to South Florida where I had lived in the early 2000s. I had several job interviews, but nothing fruitful. It was after several months of searching that I realized that I didn’t want to need a job or try to convince someone to give me a job that I didn’t want anyway. It was around this time that I came to realize that even when I was working for a company, I needed to have a mindset that I am always working for myself. I also realized that the work I was most proud of was the invention I had created and other work that I had done in collaboration with other creative professionals. That was when I decided to start my business. I wanted to spend more time doing work that I enjoyed, Having spent time in technology, working with UX designers, graphic designers and brand agencies, I realized that the creative economy would be the future of business. I decided to pursue opportunities as a consultant and in corporate jobs where I could contribute and enjoy my work. Some endeavors weren’t as successful as others, but I had decided to take my destiny into my own hands, and with each opportunity I’ve had, I gain more confidence in my ability as an entrepreneur.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I had set up accounts on the major platforms and tried to keep up with all of them, but I found it exhausting and realized I had no purpose in spending so much time on them. I have never been so obsessed with other people’s business that I wanted to follow them in life, let alone on social media. I had to determine why I would be on social media at all, and that helped me figure out what to do next. I started out with a goal of being engaged on one social media platform. I enjoyed Instagram and found that many of the people in my personal and professional life that have great ideas and images shared on IG. So, I started there. I experimented with different content and realized I wanted to focus on posting content related to my brand and not personal content. I set a goal to post consistently and began to refine the look of the posts. I got some great advice from my very talented niece on that. She even created templates for me that I could use to post various content. I still have a way to go to build my audience, but I know it takes time and consistency. I’m in for doing the work and being patient.
