We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Trenisha Webster. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Trenisha below.
Alright, Trenisha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career
I would change the whole curriculum. School curriculum doesn’t prepare our students for the future aspects of life that adults go through. I didn’t learn much about credit, financial security, entrepreneurship, taxes or coding until I became an adult and taught myself.
My generation learned coding through the MySpace ages. We had to learn how to create our pages using music, profile backgrounds, backsplash etc. There would be more coders in this world. Taxes we learned from Jackson Hewitt, Turbo, H&R Block. Thankfully, My aunt taught me about taxes and how to fill out a W4 form and other forms needed for employment.
Back in 2007, I started working for FICO. That’s how I learned the importance of credit. Having great credit gets you farther in a financial world than just cash. Having great credit pushes the banks or financial companies to insure low interest rates, amounts to borrow or even becoming a top tier credit card holder. Having that information pushed me to educate the importance of credit, how to start building, how to check and repair your credit file and increase your score.
With financial security, I wish I didn’t go into college. I would’ve started a trade or would’ve started my company in my early 20s. By going to college, I took on student debt which increased to 6 figures. I don’t want to hold that debt for the rest of my life. It’s no longer 6 figures, however, I don’t want to have my children struggle to pay any school debt when they don’t have too. Tuition needs to become more affordable (without interest) or demolished. Debt would not be as high as it is now because of the student loan debt crisis.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Trenisha Webster, Owner of T-Marie Innovations LLC and the 750+ Credit Club. I started my business based on my education and knowledge on entrepreneurship. The first steps I took was to write down exactly what my strongest skills were, create a skillset document and researched pricing, drew a draft of my website, created graphics that would catch the attention of others, built my website and Facebook business page, and promoted the business daily. I work a full-time management position. I have enough time during those hours to work on my business. My children are at school during the day. When we come home, I’m still in business mode. I work virtually, so I don’t have to leave them or scramble to contact a sitter. My weekends are mainly for family time with my children. I still work virtually on Saturdays for those who are not able to schedule during the week. All meetings are scheduled by appointments only.
My services include: Business Development, Coaching, creation of marketing materials, resume designing, Notary services and business and personal credit.
I rebrand my business annually which keeps people vested into your line of business. I create and promote new products semi-annually based off business importance such as business credit. Being a one-stop shop for people keeps you ahead of competition especially when a client can come to you for everything for their business and personal needs.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Social Media marketing has been the best for me. I’m able to create my own graphics and post them on social media. People are able to share to their friends and their friends can share to more people. That’s how I have gained so many clients. Word-of-mouth is another work of art. I have clients who would speak business with others and they would forward my information to them.
My favorite tools are email and social media messaging. I’m able to connect with my clients and potential new clients. Since I work virtual, I’m able to contact with multiple people during the day and get to them quicker than face-to-face. I believe both of these tools are the best to work with if you are virtual.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Music. Listening to music relaxes my brain and my body. I work better when I’m listening to music. Something about silence doesn’t help me. I come up with the greatest ideas for my business using music. Another thing I do is meditate by listening to binomial beats for five minutes a day while breathing in eucalyptus essential oil. It helps with relaxation physically and mentally.
Writing helps me with ideas and new books I will work on in the future. In my personal library, poetry enhances my creative juices for writing. I’m able to visualize the idea, write it, and then later, promote it.
I also have to give credit to my kids’ father, Robert. My business role model. He is the one who showed me the ropes of entrepreneurship. He began real-estate back in 2011 and that really sparked interest for me. He took his talents and knowledge to create his own lines of business. Now, he has ventured off into other avenues. Watching him grow, helped me gain confidence to begin my journey.
Another person who started her journey based on her craft and creativity is my best friend, my sister Shayla. She turned her talent of drawing and crafts into her art. She has set a new found level of expression by creating coloring books based off of minorities, totes, posters. You name it, she has it. She’s one that motivated me to continue to create and rebrand the business.
