We were lucky to catch up with Tre’la Peters recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tre’la, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
The major risk I took in my life was starting my business. I was working in corporate America and knew that there was a greater call over my life. I wasn’t fulfilled and I needed to find make moves to put me in position to walk in my purpose. I took a leap of faith, quit my job and poured everything into my business. I had one child and I was pregnant with another and that was the biggest risk but so far it has given me the greatest reward.
Tre’la, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Peace and blessings to your readers, my name is Trela Peters I am a birth doula, herbalist, and wellness coach. I offer mind, body, and soul tools along herbal medicine to assist my clients with living their healthiest version of themselves. I work to empower my clients to make healthier lifestyle choices whether it’s to quit eating takeout or it’s to move away from western medicine it’s based off their version of healthy. I offer wellness coaching , herbal medicine and meditation for all ages. I have taken it a step further by assisting families throughout their pregnancy, labor and delivery to choose permanent health over temporary fixes.
What sets me apart is this isn’t a one sided relationship with my clients. I listen, I over-stand, and I equip my clients with tools and resources to make the healthiest option for themselves and their families.
My biggest accomplishment is growing and making health relevant in communities where we don’t get the opportunity to think about health.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Back in 2022 I had a vision of becoming a local wellness coach in Greenville, SC. Where people could physically come discuss their health concerns and get some actual healing going on. I got a message one day from a person I least expected to share the same vision for brand. They informed me about a building they thought I’d be perfect in. I toured the location and indeed she was right great visibility, nice interior, pleasant land lord and so many other boxes checked. I went back to tell my support system about what I was wanting to happen and they told me continue to grow online and then open my store front. I totally disregarded what they said because they didn’t get blessed with the vision I did. I opened my store front August 8,2022 and I just knew I would grow into this big wellness coach in the community and I would be able to sustain my business. In January 2023 I was took a pivotal turn where I had to return to work for a company that didn’t value me. However, God started bringing the people while I was at work for this corporation new clients was at my door. I decided March 2023 I was going back full time into my business and I trusted God would provide and guess what she did. It took me to reevaluate and take accountability for not giving the 110% I needed to grow and scale my business.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I had to go back and choose a profession I wouldn’t choose anything other than a wellness advocate. I wouldn’t choose my original degree which is computer science. Upon graduating high school I would’ve started researching how to be a wellness advocate. How to become an herbalist and make an earning as well. Although is took me 8 years to finally follow my passion I would choose it over and over again.
