We were lucky to catch up with Treelife_Tr3 recently and have shared our conversation below.
Treelife_Tr3, appreciate you joining us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
My first dollar made as a creative motivated me even more to go harder,at the time my feature price was $100. I honestly didn’t feel it was necessary to charge for verses until a friend if mine said I should. I just didn’t feel like I have done enough work and reputable enough to charge anyone. But he made it make sense . And the key in my opinion to make sure someone feels that spending money with you is worth it ,is to give it your all and treat the project as if you would your own. So I went into the booth spit my bars and the client loved it. The song was used as a theme song for a radio station for a year.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In my opinion its to actually give them a listen, give them the support you would want going into a entrepreneurial venture. I understand that it’s alot of artist in the U.S let alone the city of Houston. But listen to the stories outside of the music as well . Some people put their all into their craft while some half step it . Given everyone doesn’t have the same opportunities it just means you have to grind harder to get the same results. Me personally I would support the man who spent his all in his craft and to excel ,rather than the person who has the opportunities put puts out mediocre content.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding to me is the reaction from others . For years I didn’t create music, I didn’t write , I didn’t freestyle, depression put me in a place where I didn’t feel like doing anything creative. The first song I went into an actual studio to do the engineer actually like it! I expected him to just do his part and record but he actually started mixing the song and everything my 2 hour session became four. At this time I didn’t know who he was but the engineer was EQ the same person who produces and engineer for artist like Sauce walka ,Tec, lil baby, and many many others. We built a relationship and he became my go to guy . I say all that to say music has taken me places I didn’t think I would go, reach people that didn’t even know my name before . Not to mention I get paid for it.
